Recruiting forum off topic thread (no politics, covid, or hot button issues)

Atlanta Vol was certainly wealthy enough to give people tickets and seems to have done some nice things but his recruiting info was basically worthless. He followed a very predictable pattern. He told people what they wanted to hear until the dudes from paysites said we weren't getting somebody then he'd make a beeline over here and say the situation changed and whatever school was getting the player came in with a late bag. The only reason he lasted as long as he did was the aforementioned fact that he got people tickets and was philanthropic (which was commendable) and that built him a very loyal core group of supporters. AV said there was a 70% chance we were getting Gruden that last go round, which again was what many wanted to hear at the time but was complete baloney.

What about when he said Cade Mays would be back in orange like a month before it happened and everyone called him crazy? He wasn't only wealthy enough to give people tickets. He owns certain planes that the coaches take on recruiting trips so to say his info was worthless is laughable.

He didn't say anything about Cade Mays that wasn't said on the pay sites. His recruiting info was worthless. He always told some of y'all what you wanted to hear. He took gambles on 50/50 propositions frequently and took credit if it hit and said the situation was fluid if it didn't, classic fake insider garbage. No one, most certainly not I, have ever contended that he wasn't wealthy or didn't do some nice things for people, he did. It is possible that he wasn't so much actively misrepresenting some things as he was just gullible and unable to read the people he talked to. That is often the case with the scions of wealth, though I have a hard time believing it with stuff like the Gruden thing. The open records act/FOIA stuff proved that Gruden was never even on the radar the last go round. That was all imaginary. AV vouched for MIT Beaver for pete's sake, and MIT Beaver was the fraudiest of the fraudulent, again maybe that's just got to do with him being unable to read people but the end result was the same, his recruiting info was worthless.

I do agree with some of your points. I think AV was connected and told things he was being told/hearing. He may have added a little spice to some of his info but a lot of what he said was legit, especially early on during his time on the board. He was wrong at times, sure. He said MIT was legit to the extent he was around some of those circles. Think he or someone outted that MIT was around the country club scene as a worker or something. Can’t remember the exact details.

Can’t believe there are some still doubting AV because a few recruits changed their minds. Must have hurt some feelings really bad. Wish he would have put a disclaimer on every post: just telling you what I know. Please understand things are subject to change. Guard your heart.
This board has and has had numerous people that have legitimate inside information, LWS, Deer Park, 99vawl to name a few. AV was not one of those people though, he just gave people tickets and performed some philanthropic acts (which was nice) which made people overlook the fact that he didn't really know anything recruiting wise. Heck, he acted like Pruitt was the sharpest tack in the drawer.

I'm with you there. I used to look forward to AV's posts.

Your memory is selective.

Uh no. AV mentioned it before pay sites.

I could be wrong but I thought he called Cade mays months in advance. He was just a fan and got his hopes up too much. Plus he didn’t realize our coach was a POS who didn’t know what he was doing. I think calling his recruiting info worthless is just wrong.

Met him. Still text with him. Shook hands with coaches and their wives at his introduction.

He's legit.
Never said he wasn't a real person, or that he wasn't wealthy, just that his recruiting information was not reliable/essentially worthless.

Here he is saying there was a 65-70 percent chance we get Gruden. Again the FOIA production revealed Gruden was not ever on the radar the last go round, it was all 100% imaginary.

Here he is vouching for MIT Beaver. MIT Beaver for anyone who doesn't know was a troll and a fraud.
