Exactly. He still makes the best EVs. Space X is still the best way off the earth. The premiere internet provider is still Starlinks. Some are now realizing that social media's playing field has leveled.

How bout that? Myyyyyyyyy home town couldnt afford a new school for my kiddos, but it could afford this, a multi year multi million dollar street renovation (cough $60 Mill), softball fields, and most thankfully - expanding a MTB park!!!

Nah it’s not that for me personally. I don’t even see much on there I don’t want to see in terms of disagreement. Also you can just block people you disagree with if you really want.

But Twitter is now nothing but ads and then when you find an interesting post and click on it to read further convo, it’s just a bunch of posts that have nothing to do with the original tweet from people who pay for Twitter. Not a good user experience anymore. I block like 10 accounts under every single post I click to try and clean it up but it’s never ending.

Never followed his politics, though he's always seemed pretty middle of the road like many technologists and futurists.

That said, his magazine (sans the pornography) was ahead of its time. Op-eds from famous thinkers, thought provoking articles often discussing wristwatches, tech, etc., and Science Fiction. I recall reading Franken & Maher articles in Playboy.

My assertion is these days he puts so much energy into X, spouting off about his employees, going to Burning Man, and being in spats with Grimes or whoever else.

Just seems he's lost his focus on what he started with and is more about the spotlight than producing his vision. The whole Twitter obsession and then purchase was one red flag. Also seems stretched too thin. Hanging out with wacked out tech crowd probably not helping either...sounds like he does quite a lot of drugs. Hope he can get back on track and not go full blown off the rails

He’s probably the exact same guy he has always been. He just has a lot more spotlight on him now and so many more “haters”.

Like it or not the X thing took selfless balls. He saw what a cancer it was and he attacked it with his biggest weapon, his money.

All we've gotten is an admission of outdated facilities. As the ONLY elementary, intermediate, or high school still in operation without any updating or new infrastructure, the terms 'immediate need', were used in the Press.

W Walnut has seen a 20% increase in dollars borrowed (now up to $75 million) in bonds issued.

So dar, we have had a property tax hike. And talk. Lots and lot of talk.

Meanwhile many neighbors went to a recent town hall to block rezoning efforts to being in a 'in footprint' apartment complex.

80-120 apartments in an already absolutely swamped area. Let Washington County have them. The city would crawl over glass to let anyone break it off in them, for a buck.

The neighborhood and area cannot sustain another 80-120 households. The school is overcrowded. Teachers taxed. Its a bad deal. It isnt like theyve known about this issue for years.

(By the way, Davide Lefemine proposed and was turned down, to turn that Apartment corridor into a City Park). The asking price, along with paid for site plans was below market value.

They were told no due to too many projects ahead. Namely, Winged Deer, which theyve run out of money for.

I’ve always liked Musk, but even before the last couple years I always thought he was a unique blend of brilliance and “wtf are you talking about Elon?” . Mostly brilliance, of course. To be fair to him though, he now owns the very platform that allows people to have a voice that reaches far more people it can in any other capacity. It only makes sense that his voice is also reaching more people than it ever used to which in return means more coverage, more publicity and yeah, more spotlight.

He's pretty moderate, except he's been pretty offended by a lot of the far left agenda, cancel culture and Twitter's political weaponization. So, he's used his wealth for what he views as social benefit.

He is absolutely detested by many on the left.
