Recruiting Forum: Official Alabama Pre-Game/Game Thread

Tennessee rolls back into Neyland for arguably the most anticipated game of the season. For some, it is Florida. For others, it is Bama. The importance of the rivalries may be disputed, but the magnitude of this game is not. It is huge.

Keys to Victory:

1. Attack through the Air: Bama, as we all know, is pretty much stacked from top to bottom, every year. Even when they have deficiencies, it maddeningly doesn't seem to matter, and they win anyways. When looking for holes in this season's team, you find it in the secondary. Breakerboy will be here in a minute to tell you exactly why they are terrible, but I'll just give you numbers.

The Bama defense is 61st in the nation in pass defense. They have given up 400 yards passing to ARK and 421 to Ole Miss. However, they are also opportunistic. They have 6 INT's, 3 of which have been returned for touchdowns. Tennessee needs to exploit the holes in the Bama secondary, and I would look for Debord to dial up a ton of screens for Kamara to take advantage of an over aggressive defense. He did this brilliantly against A&M.

2. Ball Security: Tennessee has been flirting with disaster all season. Only 4 teams in Division 1 have lost more fumbles than Tennessee. That's not counting the ones we have actually recovered. I believe someone said we have fumbled 21 times, and lost 8. You cannot do that this week. Interceptions as well. Turnovers are huge.

3. Complete Game:
This one repeats from last week, because it's still true, and it still hasn't happened. Tennessee must play well for 4 quarters. I do not doubt the heart of this team, but their execution has not been there for a full game yet. This is week 7...

4. Something Special:Tennessee hasn't been bad on special teams, but last season, they were spectacular. They need to make something special happen this week to give them an edge.

5. Crowd Factor:
The mood around the Tennessee fanbase seems oddly positive, given the loss on Saturday. Everyone can see, and appreciate the effort that is coming every week. The Vols have knocked off both of their other rivals already this season, and there is one scalp left to claim. The crowd is going to be hungry for this one, and is going to make life very difficult for Bama, as long as the Vols are still in the game.

Prediction: Well, this certainly won't earn me many "likes" on here, so I guess I'll have to get my dopamine fix from other places this week. Tennessee has yet to put together a complete game, and I just can't get over that. I can't predict them to do something I have seen them fail to do 6 times already this year. They have the talent. The depth is questionable with key injuries, but they just don't have the consistency, so this one is a loss. If they put it all together though, all bets are off.

I don't care what the score is or how they get it done but our VOLS are gonna beat the bammers Saturday. It's gonna happen.

I get material on a daily.

Bama fans stated the following:

Their secondary is better than the one in Florida.

Their Rbs are better than ours.

Hurts is better than Dobbs.

All true stories

I've been told a 21 point spread wouldn't be enough. These people are insufferable.

Had the following conversation yesterday:

Bammer: "I heard Peyton is going to be at the game
Saturday"

Me: "Sure"

Bammer: "CAUSE HE AIN'T GOT NOTHING TO DO ON THE WEEKENDS NO MORE"

Me: "Correct. He retired"

Bammer: "HE QUIT PLAYING FOOTBALL NOW."

Me: "Are you aware that he retired as the greatest player in the history of the National Football League?"

Bammer: "HE DON'T PLAY NO MORE"

Is there a lower form of human being than the Tennessee resident bandwagon Bama fans that will dump 3 months of their sham disability checks into a pair of upper level seats that some slug sells them to be in Neyland on Saturday?

I contend that there is not.

Hate is a strong word, but I hate those people.

Kentucky basketball fans are the only thing that comes close. I used to feel sorry because its as if Alabama is the only true success in their life, but I gave that up. They are trash.

Watching the Bama vs Arkansas game right now. They will be exposed on defense Saturday. They aren't nearly as good as last year. Allen broke contain a lot. And they were trying to contain him.

We should beat this team by double digits. They aren't as good as past years and Hurts isn't all that good at all. He runs decent but we've just got a better football team than them this year. I think Byrd will break loose more than once. Bama isn't good on the backend. Arky just turned the ball over.

Also our D-line will dominate their O-line. A&M is the best O-line we will face all year.

Bama gets pressure when they blitz but not out of base.

Jumper coming on at LB and Foreman being aggressive on short routes I can see Hurts throwing one big one(pick six type of ball).

They aren't nearly as good as their ranking.

Also Arkansas had rushing lanes as well. Go watch that game it's a short version on YouTube. They don't look like the Buckeyes(that team looks damn good) at all athletically.

Good thing we don't ever do that.

If our offense protected the ball as well as last year, I'd love our chances to win this game.

If we did that we'd be undefeated and playing with house money going into this game.

Ultimately I think the injuries on the defensive side of the ball are too much to overcome (was really hoping DKjr was going to be back) but we've proven we can score a lot this season, sometimes in the blink of an eye, so who the hell knows.
