I didn't think any game could be as nerve-wracking to me this season as the UF game, but this weekend will be even worse. The fate of our program for the next 3-4 years may hang in the balance.
Dude too dramatic. Take some time. Get some sunshine. Go shoot some hoops. Sure it will suck if we lose. But the fate of our program does not rest on this game. At this point we are off the national radar anyways. Nobody has any expectations for us at this point. But we're actually a pretty good team. We're probably gonna beat Arkansas, cause we have more good players. We're also going to give Georgia and Bama fits. Wouldn't shock me if we won out. Ok it would surprise me a great deal, but I could see it.
You guys comparing this team to any of Dooley's though is straight up lunacy. His teams had no foundation. Butch's is set up to continue to improve for years and years. 2012 was an "all in" type of year. We had to win because we were losing everybody and there was no talent waiting in the wings.
Even if we go 5-7 next year, which I don't see happening, I still think we would be set up to improve a great deal in 2016. Our defensive line is stacked for the next few years. Our linebackers, safety's. The offense looks good as well with oozing talent on the oline, at WR, RB and most importantly at QB.
Also this team actually plays some defense. For awhile anyways. The Dooley comparisons do not hold up.
You guys don't want to accept the youth excuse and neither do I. But it's a reality that Butch can spin if things don't go as well as we all hoped this year. He can keep momentum going as long as we finish strong.
5-7 or worse would be worst case scenario and indicate that the wheels had come off and the players tuned out Butch. That might signify that it's time for a change. That I could support.
But if we end this year winning 7 or 8 games... It's pretty meh for us as fans. But it would really just look like we're still getting better and getting closer. I think sticking with Butch could pay off down the line. Especially once his talent is well seasoned and he finds a way to improve on his deficiencies. It's only year 3. We all expected the Saban impact. But that's pretty rare. We're doing alright though. We're really just stuck in this negative tailspin as a result of no great celebratory moments. Every big moment has been bad this season. But they will come. We have too many good players for them not to.
But whatever. Fahr Butch if you want.
