Well the takeaways from this game are as follows: 1) the rushing attack is dirty 2) the oline is better 3) the secondary was much improved once Kelly came in, but we need to ensure we have safety help to the non-Cam side 4) the pass rush needs to improve tremendously 5) Jennings is as good as advertised 6) Dobbs is Dobbs.

john kelly has great vision and balance. it jumps out. hes similiar to alvin. he needs to be in there working in with the other 2 in every game.

And not having Martinez in the booth hurts. That will make a huge difference next week.

Everybody hated hearing it when Butch said it, but this is still a young team. Freshmen and sophomores everywhere. We will improve as the year goes on. Gotta stay healthy though.

Absolutely. You could tell on several occasions, especially in the first half that the DBs were confused on their pre-snap alignment

Butch said earlier in the week that the Bowling Green QB could be a NFL QB...I thought it was coach speak initially, but I believe him after the game. The guy can play and make all the throws.

I don't understand being so negative about the pass rush. BG has the most experienced OL in the country, they are extremely up tempo, and their whole offense is based on quick throws. All of which negate a good pass rush. BG will be one of the best offenses we face all year and it was our first game. Step away from the ledge.

people dont understand this about their offense. i can give you about 6 teams on our schedule off the top my head that dont have an offense as good as BGs. Primarily passing game.

Considering poor state of QB in SEC this year, I will say that number is higher than 6, from a pass perspective at least.

Takeaways:

1) Running game is sick nasty
2) Oline is certainly improved
3) On that note, Thomas is a huge improvement over Crowder. He can just make plays that Crowder physically can't.
4) Team might have been overlooking this game, I would hope that Butch would have his team better prepared.
5) BGSU has a legit offense and an awesome QB.
6) Our D is probably overrated. Wonder how much of an impact not having Martinez/ only getting the news now effected his players.
7) Dobbs looked pretty good out there. Would like to see how he looks once he gets some more passing looks

We have the biggest bunch of sissy, �� fied jerk fans in CFB. And I am ashamed to say I am one of them sometimes. The team could play a nearly perfect game, and all we would do is gripe about it. That QB is better than almost anybody in the SEC. And their OL is power 5 class also.

Herbstreit pretty much predicted the game to play out the way it did, also that we win the East. Hopefully he knows what he's talkin about. It is his job after all.

Agree with all points. Defense will be better. Told yall this running game is going to be good. I hope this OL keeps progressing and doesn't look back

medley looked awful in every way. If he hits that one FG then that takes one BG TD off the board. They scored right after it. He was awful.

Mayfield for OU has 300 yards & 3 TDs, but the team has run for 50 yards on 21 carries against Akron. Perrine has 11 for 33 & Mixon has 4 for 21. OU defense looking all world thanks to horrific Akron QBs, but they do have almost 100 yards rushing.

I wonder if Butch in hindsight would've told the team the Martinez news before gameday? I'm sure it would've leaked out but I can't help but wonder it rattled some of the DBs.

Akron is brutal. Same conference as BGSU except BGSU may win the MAC. Akron is about the 6th or 7th best team in the conference at best.
