Hope your right! Defense is not the problem! It's the playing scared offense!

I think our defense can survive without DKjr and Cam, our d-line needs to dominate Barnett and Vereen specifically. If they do I expect TKjr and Abernathy to make things happen on the back end. On offense Dobbs needs 15+ rushing attempts, if he does I believe that'll open things up down field for some big plays. And please we have a NFL TE lets get him involved early.

IMO turnovers will determine the outcome of this game. If we put it on the ground 5 times like we did vs. Ohio, it's going to be a long afternoon.

Our D needs to force a bunch of turnovers & our offense needs to hang onto the ball. That is all.

I suspect Florida will run a very run-heavy offense with play action mixed in. They will try to pick on Jumper and take easy 5-7 yard passes. Play the field position game and rely on their defense to create turnovers and give them a short field. They are not gonna get Appleby throwing 30+ times with 10-15 yard routes.


We absolutely have to start out quick and get a lead. If they try to play catch-up I think our defense will thrive. If we start slow, they can win an ugly bruiser game.

I'm going with the team that has the fewest turnovers, as cliche as that sounds. I just don't have much faith in either offense to move the ball. I think it comes down to which defense can give their offense the short field more often. Which that will be, I have no idea. :dunno:

Totally agree about the fast start. That's exactly what hurt us against App St. We need to dictate the pace of the game.

Umm..Ohio..let me say again..OHIO scored 19 on this defense. Excuse people for not being overly impressed. The defense can do better, I agree. But at this point I haven't seen them shut anybody down. Especially now that Kirk and Cam are out, and JRM is at half speed. The thoughts of play action passes to the TE that just blew by 53 is a recurring vision of the future I'm seeing. The bad thing is, it is going to be hard to score 10-14 points on UFs defense as bad as the OL is playing. They don't have to do much more than have a couple of blown assignments to win. The current team just has too many apparent holes. I'm not getting my hopes up again, just to feel gutted at the end. Not gonna do it.

I'm not getting my hopes up much either Ulysses, but I really think a running dobbs will helpask this line and open things up. A mobile QB is key to this offrnse

I feel oddly good about the game (although I'm not the type to be distraught for days after a loss so I don't worry about getting hopes up).

I guess my hope is the staff played with fire in games 1-3, while putting most of their stack on the 4 game run. Granted, that doesn't explain the poor o-line play, but it *might* explain why we haven't so many successful plays we ran last year, and why our playcall sheet appears to be from Tecmo Bowl. Don't get me wrong, I know its only a hope.

We kinda threw a pick for them to get down there. And gave up stops with flags on 3rd and 4th down.

Virginia Tech has a better offense than Florida and they weren't getting first downs after the first quarter. It wasn't all fumbles they were getting shut down through all of the extra.

Versus Ohio team was drained due to injuries to top players and we ran a total of about 4-5 defenses. Very very bland overall. And that Ohio WR is better than Callaway too. Go watch that 6'3 BIG receiver. He's much better than Callaway as a receiver. IMO

I have a Florida "friend" that was chatting on Facebook about the game. A lady mentioned that she was worried since Del Rio was out. He said, don't worry because our backup is just as good. He said he did really well at Purdue last year. I felt compelled to point out his 1:1 TD to INT ratio. I haven't heard back yet.

They will find a way to isolate BPowell on Kelly and the other linebackers and he will go for 90+ receiving yards and maybe another 50+ on gadget plays.

I just hope we see Dobbs on the move with More moving the pocket on some roll outs with a flat/corner/drag read or take off with the rock

Hopefully on offense we slow it down a little bit and let the defense stay off the field for more than 1:45 seconds.
I get hurry up to the line of scrimmage but the defense is playing way too much. Got to help them out a little bit .

I got Florida winning simply bc the offensive staff doesn't let our guys play and never put them in position to make the most of their abilities.

Ohio always has a very tricky offense and does well at putting points up. Solich is a damn good coach.

I think we're going to kick their teeth in. I used to think lowering my expectations would somehow make losing not as painful, but experience has taught me that it doesn't. I get angry either way, so I may as well remain positive and enjoy myself for a while instead of slowly stewing in impending doom. We all know the concerns, but at a certain point you have to choose who you want to be. Tigger or Eeyore.
