'21 Recruiting Forum: Official Florida Pregame/Game Thread

Frustrating to see us refuse to give ourselves a chance. Can’t beat a good team with such sloppy execution when our margin for error is already so razor-thin.

Penalties, drops, overthrows, bad snaps, missed field goals. Story of our season. This team lacks talent and depth compared to upper-tier SEC teams, but it DOES have enough to reach a bowl game. But we have to play much, much cleaner to make that happen.

Hope to see us play better next week.

Everyone saying “look at Arkansas and look at Ole Miss” need to realize that those teams had their growing pains in year 1 as well.

Huepel and his staff have done some amazing things with this team and they called a heck of a game.

You can’t make players execute. Players have to want to do that and do it. All coaches can do is put them in a place to be competitive which is what they did.

I don’t know how the NCAA can legislate it both ways. Kids can leave freely whenever they want, so how can you ensure schools get a full roster?

I can see it getting to where kids use 4 year schools like juco’s. Go to some mid major FBS school or low level P5 and use it as a jumping off point to go to Alabama or OSU
actually, thinking about this more.. this happening will only make the gaps widen. the top schools will cut bait with those not producing, and take on the lesser schools best players. those that got cut will end up replacing those that got taken by the top schools in an endless cycle.

The moment for me that made me smile…

Florida blitzing everyone. Heupel calls a screen and Evans takes it the house.

No more of the “it’s my system and will work” crap we’ve been forced fed for years.

A coach who adjusted to what the defense was giving.

Finally

Beautiful play call. Been nice if Wright would have picked up the block. Evans almost didn't break way. Should have been untouched

It's every game so far. Frustrating

I think Milton is just a lost cause. We’re going to have to play a glorified running back at QB but that’s our only shot
I’m not even mad. We all knew depth would get us. If the half was close (even I didn’t think it would be that close), I knew it was a crap after the middle of the third. Our kids fought hard. I had forgotten what that looked like in recent memory. Milton is not in our future nor should he be in the present. I’m just going to enjoy the rest of the games, because I have to believe in the future of our football program for my grandchildren.

Ignorant thing to say. Not all Tennessee fans are from Tennessee there wild man. Maybe take a trip, see the world over yonder.
Yep, ain't never been nowhere, I is not thanking. U got me goud.

Seriously?? No ignorance here. Understand Florida (visited most of it) and know exactly what I said. If you want to criticize, call it mean-spirited and hateful. I won't argue with you, because that is how I meant it after the loss. They are the enemy and their utter destruction should be pursued to the ends of the earth.

This is a forum for fanatics to express potentially irrational thoughts. Forgive me for availing myself of that opportunity in my frustration with the game. Or don't, it matters not to me.

and in other news.....

WSU did have plenty of time for one final shot to reclaim the lead, but Utah turned up the heat on Guarantano to force the Cougars into a 4th-and-8. The result was the final nail: A pick 6 after a miscommunication between Guarantano and Calvin Jackson Jr.

Non-Jayden de Laura QB play still stinks: Guarantano was ok at times, making some nice throws on the occasions the offensive line kept him extraordinarily clean. But facing any kind of pressure, he continues to show a propensity to panic, usually resulting in a negative play. Utah racked up eight sacks, including five in the second half; two of his interceptions were absolute killers. For a player with as many starts as he has, it’s so puzzling to watch him struggle to diagnose coverages and continually be confounded by pressure.

Over throw by Hooker to TE in second quarter the DL hit HH with crown of helmet in the chin. He was unable to step into that throw. Ref standing right there. No call

We punt and Holiday gets targeting call.

Florida doesn’t score thanks to Taylor strip.

TLDR

Anybody taking a positive out of this game! I got nothing.
Uhh yeah at one point we were up on the #11 team in the nation who lost to Alabama by 3. We would have been even more in the game if our guys executed.

The takeaways from this game are that we have very good coaches and they are making this team way better than it was a year ago. We lost to Florida by an insane margin last year and they weren’t anywhere near as good as this team.

Yeah there were positives. We got big plays. We ran the ball really well at times. Got another turnover, didn't turn it over ourselves. Defense played well early, before depth could become an issue. Effort was not an issue.

Couple of coaching gaffes with the punt return and the clock management at the end of the half..

And just waaaay too many a mistakes on the field. Overthrows. Drops. Missed blocks and Tackles. Penalties... Freaking penalties.

I'd love to see us play a clean game and see what happened.

I honestly think we have to make a change at the safeties. McCullough and Flowers absolutely kill us in coverage.
