and in other news.....

WSU did have plenty of time for one final shot to reclaim the lead, but Utah turned up the heat on Guarantano to force the Cougars into a 4th-and-8. The result was the final nail: A pick 6 after a miscommunication between Guarantano and Calvin Jackson Jr.

Non-Jayden de Laura QB play still stinks: Guarantano was ok at times, making some nice throws on the occasions the offensive line kept him extraordinarily clean. But facing any kind of pressure, he continues to show a propensity to panic, usually resulting in a negative play. Utah racked up eight sacks, including five in the second half; two of his interceptions were absolute killers. For a player with as many starts as he has, it’s so puzzling to watch him struggle to diagnose coverages and continually be confounded by pressure.
Pay attention folks it could be worse for those asking.

Probably the best defense he’s ever played against
And the worse receivers and then the QB . Lot of balls that should be caught and a lot of balls that can't be caught. We have open receivers then we have overthrows . Think one problem might be the difference in the QBs throwing the ball one 100 mile an hour fastball the other a changeup or just not very good at catching.

A college wide receiver coach doesn’t teach how to catch a ball..
Well some do and all should. But most of them come in as a receiver and have practiced for years and some come in play receiver that never played it before and need time and practice catching the ball.

This team has little to no margin for error.

With only 71 scholarship players it is tough.

Milton is a mess. With seconds left he should have rocketed the pass right at the receiver's numbers. That is playing tight and not wanting to make a mistake. If he is doing all the right things in practice and it is not translating to the field .....well that dog won't hunt. Send him over to the TE's to work on his blocking and promise him if there is a need for an 80 yd Hail Mary he is our guy.

Cade .....Booby.... please understand the NFL will be less than impressed with your per game penalty average.
He should be the rock of our offensive offensive line. The whiffs by the oline are staggering. Must fix the center shotgun delivery. Cooper played his heart out and the staff should have pulled him long before the did. That exchange is so important to Heupel's offense.

The positives are they play hard, they don't quit, and Heupel's offense works. The current personnel cannot execute it on consistent basis. Penalties and stupid mistakes are killing any chance of getting into a rhythm.
Defense will get tired . I thought they did last night.

Minus the penalties I really think this staff is the answer, and some of the penalties is on the players.

I feel checked out already. But being real, I’ll be back next weekend. This is the typical Sunday morning frustration that has become the new tradition over the last 15 years.

I thought hooker and the Rbs played pretty well, feel like the receivers really let us down. I counted 4-5 drops that would’ve obviously been huge in keeping us in the game. It’s a young/inexperienced group, hopefully they grow as the season progresses. Players have to make the plays when they’re there.
