We made 0 effort to get a first down. You can run it 3 times and still try to get a first down. Only legit criticism of butch for that game, imo, was making 0 effort on that drive after the INT.

So what would you have called?

I would have spread them out and then tried to run it. We were not getting the first trying to run against a 9 men in the box. Formation to get some defenders out of the box and ran to the wide side of the field. If they strung it out and we didn't gain anything, we'd at least used a little more time off the clock.
