i guess the real question is do you think TN is better equipped to deal with UGa than Auburn?

i would have to say the biggest difference between Auburn and TN is the offensive lines. they hassled Bo Nix all game long...if they're able to do that against us, well....i'd expect a simlar result. if not, should be a tighter game.

speed wise they were able to match up wiht their skil guys pretty well, and they never got a consistent run game going.

i think we're gonna have to be patient offensively, and very deliberate with the run game. i like the move they've made with putting the two other OL out there as TE's to help with the blocking....i think we'll see more of that. i also wouldn't be surprised if one of those two got involved in the pass game.

last week we pulled tackles to dominate on one side or the other in the run game. i look for us to really focust on blocking them up.....one thing i haven't seen a lot of from us is the screen game. not that we need to run it a ton, but there will probalby be a couple opportunities early where we'll be able to gash them, if executed and in the right situation.

i don't know that i'd make it a habit of going sideline to sideline with our WR screens, sweeps or jet sweeps. they can pursue and cover ground quickly. you go right at 'em....

i'm also curious to see what we do in short yardage situations. we've shown the QB sneak as a favorite so far, so i'm wondering what else we got up our sleeve.....

i do know this....when we get in to 2nd and 1, 3rd and 1...we just need to go ahead and convert those...lol.

how best do we use their strength against them to stay on schedule and out of bad down and distance situations? that's got to be job 1.

defensively, don't look any gift horse in the mouth. any opportunity to turn it over, you gotta go get it, not like a couple years ago where they dropped the ball 2 or 3 times early and recovered every one of them.....

hm. i'm still not ready to change my prediction. but i'm looking for reasons..................................
I am afraid WR screens might end up in in loses and maybe a pick 6. Dump off passes underneath may produce some big plays.

I’m rewatching the uga game now and seeing similar things. UGA’s O-line absolutely controlled the game... and it’s hard to tell this early in the season if that is because auburns d-line is awful or if uga’s line was just that good. We shall see

Now go back and watch the Arkansas game. The Arkansas defense did a nice job controlling the LOS in the first half of that game.

After the indomitable Volunteer Offensive Line tramples over the ravaged Georgia Defenders, what will they say?

They will say:

I was here this day at Athens, Georgia....

For the freedom, and GLORY....

OF TENNESSEE

Vols- 27
UGA- 23

JG 19/32 285 yards 2 TDs 0 picks
Palmer 6 catches 113 yards 1 td(+20 yard fade over Campbell 1on1)
Hyatt 3 catches 85 yards 1st career TD

Ty 19 carries 115 yards
EG 15 carries 82 yards 1 tds

D Johnson 1.5 sacks
Bennett .5 sacks 5 QB hurries

Baron/Big O combine for 3 tfls

Bryce holds Pickens to under 50 yards

We pick off Stentson twice

UGA scores a late touchdown to make it 27-23 and fail to convert a onside with bout a min left. Pruitt get's bathed in Gatorade before he greets a pissed off Butch Smart knowing Daddy Saban is about to jail sex the following week. Gooood Ol Rocky Top Woooo!!!!!!

LSU last year is the only team that has scored 20 pts against Ga in like the last 2 years. We probably aren’t scooting 20. Ga isn’t going to blow us out. Their fans predicting a 40-10 win are out of their minds. But, our defense will have to play their best game. Getting to Bennett is the key. If we want to win, he has to be running for his life. Which means our DB’s are going to have to play their best also

Have to stop the run for any of that to come to fruition... But... Yeah.. That'd work!

Arkansas gained 5 fewer yards against Mississippi St than against UGA...

Auburn gained 108 more yards vs UK than against UGA.

Over 2 games, UGA has held total offenses to all of a measly 51 fewer yards per game than against mighty mighty Miss St and UK.

Is this enough cause for such a reaction? They are clearly very good on defense, a tough tough battle, but WE CAN BEAT THEM.

IMPROBABLE BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE!

(Yes I just read their board for 5 minutes and am pissed. FTG!)

Only if "2 years" is last season and only 2 games so far in 2020.

The year before (2018) they gave up over 20 points to half of their opponents.

Kirby will revert to his mean at some point. Hopefully it begins this week!

Their board is awful. They are delusional. Think they are on for a rude awakening

Reposting this bc I’m an idiot and put it in the wrong thread:
I was struck by Kirby’s comments that we have a good OL and “big guys” on the DL. At first it seemed like a back-handed compliment (big but not talented). But I had an idea and I did some research on Auburn’s DL. What I found was that they were routinely playing with one to two players at less that 270 lbs on the defensive line (in a 2-3 man front at that). It doesn’t appear that they have very many guys at 300+ who see the field and after rewatching the game it’s the obvious reason that they were routinely getting shoved off the LOS by UGAs massive line. No idea what Kevin Steele’s idea was but I don’t expect Pruitt to have fewer than three of our 290-300+ Dlinemen on the field at a time, especially if UGA is having success on the ground. And as a result I don’t expect UGA will have nearly as much success in the run game as they did on Saturday. Enough has been said about our OL but suffice it to say we should hold up significantly better than Auburn in both LOS, so this should be a more interesting matchup to say the least. Auburn was beat before the stepped on the field.
Oh God we may run for 400 yards against the Barn.

When Chaney has a QB who can make good decisions and throw on time - which JG has done up to this point - he has found ways to put up points on plenty of great defenses. I can definitely see 20+ if the weather is nice. If it’s a mud game then I agree with the sub-20 score on both sides. Battle of the trenches.

Hell what are we worried about... They're looking ahead to bama... Classic trap game!
This game honestly reminds me of Auburn in 2018. I thought it was a trap game for them, and that we had a good chance to go down there and pull the upset. I REALLY hope the result on Saturday is exactly the same. A win would elevate the program to the next level, and recruiting would go off the charts most likely.

2017 National Championship against DC Pruitt is a good example.

Exactly. That Georgia offense looked a hell of a lot like ours and the defense wasn’t too far off either in terms of talent. Still beat an all-time Alabama defense almost entirely on the back of Chaney, solid game management by Fromm, and a decent run game. I think we can replicate that if we are firing on all cylinders and the pups qb play suffers
