'20 Recruiting Forum: Official Georgia Pregame/Game Thread

I’m not a football player or coach. But I know a few who talk to this staff every week and fulmer. They have said to stop playing JG and some of our own offensive coaches have wanted to move on from JG. Believe what you want but this is on Pruitt and him always choosing JG over talent.

I agree we should be working someone else in but would not base it on this game. If he struggles against Kentucky, got to change quick. Should be working our top two QB’s this week.

Why do we have to wait until next year to play a good QB as you state? Why can’t he play now? I’m tired of getting blown out by our main rivals especially in year three. I never thought we would win, I did expect to compete and it be a close score. If anyone gets upset around here, people claim you are jumping ship. News flash, many people are pissed when we continue to limit our team with bad QB play and our coach refuses to make a change. Our defense played their tail off and I am tired of seeing us handcuffed because of JG. I’m done with our coach playing JG and keeping us from taking the next step. We are a good team missing a big key piece.
Lol what QB in the universe do you expect to beat the #1 defense in the country when complemented with a rushing offense of .7 YPC?

Your concern of the offense is completely misguided.

That’s the problem. While it’s frustrating, I’m not sure there is anyone right now who “can take the next step.” Bailey has not had near the practice time as needed. Shrout and Maurer were not elite recruits. While you’ve seen glimpses, I wouldn’t be confident of consistent play. Bailey is the future.

There have been tons of red flags during the Pruitt era. I’m not sure what good noting and discussing them does except demoralize the fanbase.

It’s a discussion forum we need to be able to talk about the problems. Sweeping the issues under the rug is what we did in the Dooley (poor recruiting) and Butch (toxic culture) years.

Lol ok...? Seems he just won 8 in a row. We are 2-1 this season. 😭😭😭

Pruitt is doing just fine. Let the season play out.

Always the type to go against your the grain and debate the obvious, huh? While im happy about 8 wins, 2 was sketchy majority of the time and is flat out not a good QB.

Again, this isn’t about JP. I believe in the coach.

When a team run blitzes you all second half, loads the box, and plays man on the outside, how do you expect to run the ball? The answer is you don’t. You have to throw it to win.

You are probably correct. But it isn’t wrong to say that Pruitt is not handling the QB situation well. He has done so many things really well, I just wish he would take a chance with Bailey right now.
Worst case scenario, JG comes off the bench and plays better like he did last year. Best case scenario you find your QB. Theres no way to lose but he won't do it.

My understanding of it is two fold:

1) Pruitt is pretty conservative when it comes to what he wants out of the offense. JG understands how to “gear down” better than the other QBs on the roster.

2) There simply has not been anyone in practice good enough or consistent enough to beat him out.

How do you know for sure that he isn't handling it well? Does anyone on this board really have the knowledge to say he isn't? I mean we're not at the practices everyday so we as fans have to trust the coach. And when I say coach I mean a real coach like CJP, not a impersonator like the used car salesman we had before. But CJP has made improvements in all aspects of our program so I assume he's doin the best with what he has to work with at the moment. HB may be the future and be a unbelievable talent, but he also missed majority of camp due to quarantine and also may need this year to learn and adjust to college ball. Just my 2 cents.

This is correct. We’re ahead of schedule, for the most part.

But we have at least even talent on the O Line and they got embarrassed. Can’t let that happen again.

If Wanya and Wright were seniors and not talking Kennedy at center but someone else then maybe we are close to having our OL as talented as their DL. But they have talent AND experience. That front 7 is best in college football or best I’ve seen play this year.

Can we all just come to a consensus and agree that “playing a good first half” means absolutely nothing. It was said many times under Butch and is meaningless.

We just racked up another 20+ point loss against our rival and didn’t look remotely competitive again.

I don’t remember many good first half’s in butch’s last two years.

What is being forgotten in all of this is the dirty, cheap way UGA took out Elijah Simmons. Simmons was a difference maker in this game and was missed. This is second time they have taken out our top run stoppers with dirty plays by center.

We’ve should’ve broke Cleveland’s leg. Those dirty plays would stop if we do it just one time. They don’t believe we will make them pay.

Poor Bass has been complaining about Weinke basically everyday since he was hired, yet Weinke remains, still struggling to make seemingly any progress whatsoever with our QB room, but persisting nonetheless.

I guess it’s cathartic. Maybe it even was for me at one point. But over the past decade it has just started to seem pointless. Pruitt will either get it right, or he won’t.

Lol. Ok. Next time I am in knoxville, I will gladly hit you up and introduce you to some VFL’s. Then once you see that you are full of s***, really see if you want to act so tough. Why don’t you google who I am talking about before running your mouth?

Look, yes some VFL’s wanted T. They love him. We all do. But he was not ready for this job ESPECIALLY this one. Plan is working fine and he will work his way up and one day be a HC. Would T bench JG? Probably so but who the QB is going to be is not all about program building. We don’t have a vote of former players for the AD to make decisions. Do you really think that is how this works? I don’t think you really do. Just sit back and watch us build this thing. Knee jerk reactions never work. We win even 6 games and that was better than what the experts said. We will win 7 and CJP will keep building his program.

I’m just pissed. We are so close it makes me mad. I agree Tee wasn’t ready. I just don’t understand Pruitts love for JG when other coaches have talked about a change and others close to the program have as well. I truly believe we are a good QB away from being able to contend with anyone. You take away JG’s turnovers and we are in a battle. Our defense is fun to watch. They are well coached and still pretty young.
