'22 Recruiting Forum: Official Kentucky Pregame/Game Thread

We've had to play several good coaches this season--Kelly, Saban and now Kentucky coach Stoops. He's got a plan, similar to Cutcliffe when they played Lousville with Lamar Jackson. I recall Duke almost won the game, except for some bad calls. Slowing the game down is good as long as you keep the score within striking distance. (I don't doubt Saban had a similar plan.) I guess the main way you destroy that plan is to stay two scores ahead.

I will say this, if we manage to get through this hell schedule unscathed, then Tennessee deserves number one. If we lose one game--we deserve playoff consideration.
It can't be too soon when we finally get to a 12 game playoff. Deserving teams who haven't coasted through their light schedule conferences will have a chance.

My gut: We win an ugly one and we finally have a game where we struggle on Offense. UK scores really late in the 4th to cover and make it a 1 score game but too little, too late. Final: UT 35 v UK 28

My heart: We keep the train humming down the tracks. Veteran leadership focuses the team and we get up on them early and never look back. Final: UT 54 v UK 21

My initial concern was the weather (rain) and it slowing us down. That now looks to be a non-factor for most, if not all, of the game. My other concern is just us stopping ourselves more so than UK. I think UK is *just barely good enough* to be a thorn in our side *if* we become our own worst enemy. I hope the poise of Heupel, Hooker and our veteran players overcome any of that concern.

I’ve saw people say their OL isn’t that good, but what about their DL?
Not that this is the final answer but in glancing at stats the other day…. I think I saw their D was 14th in the country in pass yds/gm and 27th in rush yds/gm. Conversely, our D is 129th in pass yds/gm and 8th in rush yds/gm.

Their O is 52nd in pass yds/gm and 109 in rush yds/gm. Our O is 1st in pass yds/gm and 24th in rush yds/gm.

As much as they want to slow the pace down, I think we stop CRod and Levis will have to beat us with his arm in the end.

1. I dont expect kentuckys dline to be much of a factor. We have played better and they were not a factor.
2. I guess the pass game from Kentucky could be an issue but with their oline and our dline I dont think it will matter. There will be sacks and levis tends to turn the ball over under pressure.

Its a bad match-up for kentucky so unless we play like idiots and turn the ball over a bunch...vols win big.

I was thinking our DL would win a lot of the battles against their OL. But wasn’t sure exactly how good their DL is even though their defense is ranked pretty high. I would think they are disciplined and well coached. But how have they done against good offenses? Do they have individuals comparable to LSU and AL? I like thinking it is a bad matchup for them!

Make them wave the white flag or tap out..
Since you live in Kentucky, be sure to rub their noses in it after we beat the poop out of ‘Cats..🙌
I am in Lexington today, when I bring folks up here to UK medical center I drive right by their new(well its 4 years old now)practice facility on Alumni Drive....I always slow down, roll my window down, honk the horn and scream "Kentucky sucks go Vols!" as loud as I can if they are out there on the practice field when I go over to the parking lot at the Arboretum to wait on my clients...lol 🤭

I'm pretty loud..most of the time a bunch of them look over...hehe

When you really watch them

They just aren't that good really.

Like they've just straight up looked mediocre in every single game they've played.

Struggling with literally everyone they've played including Miami (OH) Youngstown St and Northern Illinois.

We are truly on a different level and I don't see us taking them likely. They've going to get our best and they don't have the dudes to handle it.

The Miss State game was like 6-3 at half, MSU was up. The bulldogs also extended so many UK drives with dumb penalties. Crod was about the only bright spot, but that happens when you try to arm tackle a bigger rb

Precisely.

Since about game 3, separated from the pack and started reaching new heights within the offense. Heupel recognizes that level of execution and is just toying with opposing DCs now by throwing out all these formations and taking advantage of guys like Fant who have skill and size.

We have received the opponent's best shot in every game. Only LSU learned from it as they have quality athletes with good coaches who realized how far behind they were in getting their acts together after our guys whipped their tails.

Compare UK with them and Bama.

Then laugh at any UK fans and analysts who think they can stop us.

Unleash the beasts on the D-line. It's time to feast.
