It’s a shame our players don’t feel the need to prove something against the better teams on our schedule this year.
Are you doing the reverse psychology that McGill and jack does or is this different from the other two? I really want to know. Then I can properly respond.

A bad take us a bad take regardless of motivation. It's annoying when McGill does it as well.

TENNESSEE -3.5 AT KENTUCKY

Hummer (Kentucky +3.5) — You need to be able to stop the run against Kentucky to have a chance, and the Vols are quietly 13th nationally in yards allowed per carry. That’s a huge advantage. But I wonder if the bye week can create some sort of spark for Devin Leary, who’s played terrible the last three weeks. You also must wonder how banged up and drained the Vols will be after a tough loss last week to Alabama. I like Tennessee straight up in this game, but I’m happy to hedge with Kentucky ATS. I think is close. … Tennessee 24, Kentucky 21.

Crawford (Tennessee -3.5) — The Wildcats are teetering on flatlining this season if they lose a third straight SEC game in blowout fashion. Coming out of their bye week, Mark Stoops' team needs to find their mojo after getting their doors blown off by the Vols in last season's matchup. The Wildcats are 5-5 under Stoops after an open date with three of those wins coming against Vanderbilt. Tennessee should find a way in Lexington in what should be the SEC's most competitive game of the weekend. ... Tennessee 34, Kentucky 27.

Tennessee heads up north to Lexington for their annual de-railing of Kentucky's "hot start". Both teams sit at 5-2 and Kroger Field will be soaked in bourbon by the time 7:00 rolls around so it should be a fun time in the blue grass state.

Keys to Victory:

1. Slay Ray: This game features two of the best running backs in the nation. Ray Davis is a grown man running with a ball. He is averaging 7.0 yards per carry and if he weren't completely locked down vs. Georgia, he'd probably be closer to 9 YPC. He single handily destroyed Florida for 280 yards. To say the Kentucky offense runs through him is an understatement. Fortunately, the Tennessee defensive line has been outstanding this year, especially up the middle. If Tennessee can have a Georgia like performance (3.9 YPC) this will be run away win. If he averages above 5.0 YPC, it will be a tighter window.

2. Don't be Leery of Leary: Mocking over-hyped Kentucky quarterbacks is my 8th favorite thing. No one at all is talking about Devin Leary anymore, but he was Will Levi's 2.0 before the season... which means he is actually Will Levi's 2.0 now... which is ranked 90th in QBR nationally. Just get the engraving man and the Heisman and let nature take it's course. His past three games he has passed for an eye-popping 120, 128 and 69 yards. LOL... m'kay man. This dude has no sauce. 14 TD and 7 INT.

3. Be on the Wright side of the rushing stats: It's not enough to hold Ray Davis in check, Jaylen Wright, Small and Sampson all need to challenge the stingiest rushing defense (#8) to keep the game from leaning to heavily on Milton's shoulders. It was an off game vs. Bama. They need to be back on track.

4. Keep your options open: Heupel leaned more heavily on the option last week. Although Joe looked awkward with some pitches, it was effective. We need to keep Milton adding to the running game.

5. Play calling: I love Heupel's play-calling... until we miss 5 straight 4th down conversions. There have been some head scratching decisions in risky situations, and he needs to get that sorted out. Going for 4th down on your own 45 is not awful, but when you pair it with a shotgun run up the middle of Alabama's defense... c'mon now.

Prediction: Milton takes advantage of the 105th ranked pass defense in the nation and Squirrel gets big work. The Tennessee running game goes for over 200 again and Ray Davis averages 4.8 yards per carry, mostly in check, but bouncing off a few missed tackles for 2-3 bigger runs. Tennessee is the more complete team, a tale as old as time.

Kentucky receivers have dropped more passes than even ours have. Lets hope that all of a sudden they aren't world class catchers. MR Davis is about to meet the "orange" wall

Kensucky (and Mizzou) both have inflated records but really haven’t played anyone worth a damn.
Mizzou has looked solid, Kansas State is no slouch. We haven't beaten anyone better than mizzou has. Our best win is 3 loss aTm.

Kentucky beat UF easily, which is better than any win we have.

I think we handle UK, but to say their wins aren't as good as ours isn't really accurate.

Beating Florida in Lexington isn't as impressive as beating A&M in Knoxville

For one Florida doesn't have a voodoo curse over UK and it wasn't in the swamp

A&M is elite on the LOS and we were up to that challenge.

I dont think Kentucky or Florida beat A&M. Or it at least felt like more of a task to handle A&M's talent.

Yall got a lot more confidence than me. Pray to Smokey we get the running game going again like with A&M because I have negative faith in our passing attack.

If we can pass for about 300 yards against Bama we can light up Kentucky's awful pass defense. (Ranked 103rd)
Don't forget Bama committed clear no-call defensive holding on two would-have-been TDs in the endzone. That I clearly remember.

I still don't have a comprehsive total because the SEC's constant and extreme game rigging is so disgusting to look at.
