'22 Recruiting Forum: Official LSU Pregame/Game Thread

Haha I think as a first timer vs Heup’s offense he thought the Vols were one of those soft and flashy type offenses. Then we came out and punched them in the mouth and ran the ball down their throat all day long.
It’s understated how Narduzzi has been able to face this offense four years straight, which is partially why his defense had more success than anyone else has against it. Yet we still came out on top

They did TODAY! 😅

Neyland's architecture with it being almost equally high on all sides and looming up and over the field makes it louder than Death Valley. Death Valley has an entire end (almost 1/3rd of the stadium) that is one level, open and let's sound escape. LSU has a bunch of crazy, drunk, corndog smelling, insane Cajuns that are always looking for a fight and get especially nasty at night so that evens things a bit. Neyland has the edge in structure size, capacity, architecture that traps sound and helps with acoustics, tall buildings near the northeast side, equally passionate fans whom a lot of are also drunk/drinking/rowsy and get loud day or night if the team gives them a reason to be engaged. Add in the tens of thousands not even going to the game that are flooding the surrounding streets and the entire structure shaking when people stomp. There is a reason that many former players and recruits say it is the loudest they have ever been to.

Neyland, Death Valley, Ben Hill Griffin, Autzen (Oregon's small stadium is designed to trap sound insanely well), Kyle Field, Jordan Hare, Bryant Denney, Davis Wade because of the cowbells and The Horseshoe are the loudest in the country.

The Big House is huge but the design lets sound escape and Penn. State's stadium just never really seems to get as crazy as most on the list despite its size. Sanford Stadium gets pretty loud and Williams Brice does too, especially when that god awful cock crow plays but they are all a tier lower along with Doak Campbell for FSU. I've rarely seen Texas Memorial going too crazy and they play their biggest rival at the state fair but it deserves mention along with Razorback stadium. I'm sure that I'm missing a couple but no doubt that Neyland is at the top when the Vols are having success.

This was a big stop by Hadden early in the game on fourth down.

Hadden and the rest of the secondary played very well today. Loved our aggression at all levels of the D (and O too). Dee Williams, T. McDonald and Flowers all looked good and Tank didn't have to do much but seemed to play solid. LSU may not be very good at QB but they have a stable of receivers and we matched up very well.

Another angle.

His ability to side step and slip tackles while keeping his eyes downfield is elite and will be a big part of him being drafted high along with his decision making, efficiency, accuracy, ability to make all the throws with plenty of zip, catchable deep ball, ball placement (especially on slants and other throws over the middle and in the corner of endzone), ability to scan the field and go through progressions to find the open man, pre-snap recognition, ability to develop chemistry with multiple receivers and make them better, zone read recognition, speed and elusiveness, ability to take hits while avoiding violent contact, toghness, leadership, intelligence, high character, even demeanor....hell, he has no weaknesses in his game at this point and his misses are out of the reach of defenders.

Hooker being labeled as the 6th drafted QB is a joke. Should be one of the top 3 QBs drafted. He has everything you want in a franchise QB and I see him as a 10-15 year franchise QB. He is getting great coaching and is more polished than many recent top QB draft picks. Bryce Young is the only guy that I can understand being higher on GMs boards and I think HH is better but hasn't had the elite supporting cast, especially like Bryce did the previous 2 years....pretty even this year.

He’ll be 25 by draft time. That is working/will work against him

We have become battle tested. competent coaching, competitive players, clutch playmakers...

Bama better pray to whatever Booster God they worship that Bryce Young plays next week...
We finally have our coach, Jay! Feels good, man! We need to focus and prepare this week, but don’t let the moment get us too jacked up. We play better when we are relaxed out of the gate.

That long 4th quarter drove to milk clock…another thing this team “can’t do.” These coaches and players work every detail. A gimmick offense only plays to it’s strengths—this offense is complete, or at least working toward it.

Heup stated as much for the media's benefit in his remarks. He asked them how long that last drive was in the 4th quarter. Somebody shouted out 8 minutes and you could tell he enjoyed the moment. Probably zoomed right over the head of some of them.

Many LSU fans leave at halftime to party and watch the game on TV at the tailgates. They’ve been doing it for years,
I actually got to attend this game. Them leaving had nothing to do with tailgates. As soon as we scored again in the 3rd, they started leaving. Here is what it looked like as they were leaving

We’ve beaten a West team a grand total of 4 times since Fulmer was fired: Ole Miss in 2010, Auburn in 2018, Mississippi State in 2019, and LSU in 2022.

That stretch between 2010 and 2018 was agonizing. It is truly amazing the amount of BS and lackluster performances this fanbase has put up with. Just the most ridiculous and embarrassing streaks and broken records.
