We have recruiters at some positions. We need teachers who can recruit. Lining up right SHOULDN'T be an issue, but we've seen it in painful detail. Specifically against Bama and then the wall broke from there.

That's just stupid talk to deflect from the truth. They were running essentially the same D they ran the previous 3 seasons with a few different play calls. There was zero excuse to have Jumper in any game except to give a starter a short rest. Danny B could have started early in the season just like Kirkland did as a freshman. Had they kept Sapp off ST he would have played a bunch. You would think they would say to themselves, "Hey, JRM is out for the season and we don't need to expose his back-up to ST injuries. If he goes down we have to play a third teamer." The coaching staff just flat azz blew it this season on some things.

Saban doesn't have his starting LBs on STs. Why would you? Let the young guys try to earn playing time through STs. Craziness from Butch and crew.

Perhaps there is little drop off between Sabin's first and second teamers. Note Meyer has first teamers on his ST but that does not fit your agenda against the coaching staff

I've been in that camp regarding Shoop. What I'm mean by "his guys" is that he needs some guys on the defensive staff of his choosing that he is comfortable with. He doesn't have to retool the entire defensive staff or anything, but any DC ideally would be able to have 1-2 of their guys (guys they've picked to bring in and work with) instead of a room full of guys that have no choice but working with.

You really struggle finding nuance in things sometimes man.

No one is saying he "sucks." Just that he has some things he needs to work on and might have more success if he to slides outside and can use his athleticism and instincts in space. Even before injury, he struggled taking on blockers this year.

Why not let the 6'3 240 lb MLB bang around inside (given that he can earn the spot) and let Kirkland fly around outside?

No I get that, but sometimes the criticism sounds more like "Kirkland isn't very good at all, actually he really sucks"...

That's what you're inferring into other people's words, though. Nobody's posts in here were anything like that.

I just don't get the need to get so disproportionately defensive every single time someone gives some sort of critique or another to our players or staff.

It's fine to disagree, but to immediately jump in and twist people's words into an attack brings nothing to the football talk.

Nah. I just think he should be able to pick some of his assistants. That's why I mean by "his guys."

But if Brent Pry wanted to come back here and be Shoop's Co-DC again for some incomprehensible reason, I'd jump all over that for sure.

That is why I said "you guys"..And I don't ignore you because you are not a complete bunghole all the time. I respect a lot of what you have to say. You actually remind me of my youngest brother.
