Recruiting Forum: Official MCB Nebraska Pre-Game/Game Thread

I thought Vickers and Kongbo played much better yesterday too. Still hope Kongbo and Phillips move back to DE next year.

Did Big Charles practice at DT for bowl practice? Didn't notice him getting any reps.

I really hope Phillips and Kongbo are both able to play inside and out in 2017. Versatile guys who can move inside or outside and still play at a high level can give offenses fits.

As for Mosley, I may be mistaken, but I thought I saw him on the sideline in sweats at one point. Could have been some other mountain of a man though.

Agree about Phillips and Kongbo.

I definitely saw Mosley in uniform for pre game warm ups but didn't notice him after that.

Amazing how much difference some of our guys being healthy made. Cam, DKjr and Foreman being healthy was huge.

I'm such a homer and I know it can't happen but I would love the Titans to take all our guys this year lol. If DB9 is there when they pick early in the first and they don't take him in not gonna be happy. He seems like exactly what Robinson is looking for though.

I don't think Kirkland is healthy still. He didn't.m have a good game either.

When Nebraska went run heavy for that stretch and looked like it was getting ready to do that late season crap on us, his tackle for a loss reversed that. I think the 66 yards rushing proves he did well.

Go watch the game. He was manhandled A LOT.
The defensive line was awesome yesterday
Nebraska had 16 rushing attempts from their RBs
Sack yards counts against rushing yards.

I'm sure he wasn't 100% but he was definitely way ahead of where he was the last couple games of the season. He made some big plays yesterday that he couldn't make a month ago.

The bulk of their rushing yards came on a play McDowell should have stuffed at the LOS.

Not saying DKjr was perfect or didn't miss on a lot of plays, but he was still much better than a month ago. Imo he needs to add some weight this offseason.

Respectfully disagree. Atkins is still #1 in my book. Anyone was voted to the SEC quarter-century team. Think DB (he is great and glad he is/was a Vol) is one of the two best DE's in the last 25 years?
His stats say he's up there

Didn't wanna mention it for fear of being called a nega, but I thought so too.

I'm really hoping we can move him outside next year and Bituli can step up in the middle.

I watched the game, dude. He played fine.

Yup he needs to be outside.

He's pro level inside. Get him healthy and hopefully Bituli can handle outside. Always notice the difference when Kirkland isn't lining up the defense. Learning curve with Bituli in that regard could cost us.

As a sophomore he should be able to line up a defense. If not what are the coaches doing. College Sophs and Juniors not being able to line up a defense is ridiculous.

All the talk this year about only Jumper being able to line up the defense drove me crazy. Thig isn't doing his job if that's the case.

Agreed! Another pet peeve I've had is that Shoop needs "his guys" to coach his defense. What does that mean? Who are "his guys" and why are they the only ones who can coach his defense?

But I DID notice DKjr basically telling the rest of the D what play was coming presnap several times yesterday and waiving them into position.

No he is not at all. Two LBs on the entire roster who can line up a defense is horrible coaching. LB was the worst coached position on the defense. The secondary at least sometimes got a turnover(every once in a while lol). Our LBs looked bad all the time.

Since you already know the coaches suck, why would you want that? :)

Because people teach coverages and techniques different. Have guys playing with the wrong leverages or taking the wrong angles to things. I completely understand needing everyone on the same page.

I understand that, but who are "his guys"? I don't believe only people he has worked with before can teach the techniques he wants. I do however think he needs to make sure whoever he hires agrees with his techniques, if that's what "his guys" means.
