Recruiting Forum: Official Oklahoma Pre-Game/Game Thread

I'm off the Butch bandwagon, too. Been on the fence since Florida last year. This team came out ready to steamroll Oklahoma and Butch put them to sleep. Hopefully Butch makes me eat crow, but the more talented team lost today.

No crow can be eaten from you saying something like this. Butch and the OC deserves any and every kind of criticism thrown their way for this.

I feel bad for Marquez North. Sorry, you picked the wrong university to attend. I hope scouts notice you in practice and fall in love with your talent. Dude's NFL career is going to be so much better.

yeh its bad. Lots of times he cant get open either though. Then the qb has about 1.5 seconds to make a decision. Theres so many factors. But the fact that he is never involved int he offense is a joke. Nobody was tonight. Pearson, howard, north, jennings....nobody. It was awful.

Wow, that was like watching an inevitable loss in slow motion for 2 and a half quarters. It was the exact same feeling as Florida last year.

Really disappointed in offensive play calling and the play of the OL, though the former likely affected the latter. I really hope DeBord is just a placeholder coordinator and they'll look for someone more dynamic this winter.

Also, I was very disappointed in Dobbs' passing. Maybe there's a reason CBJ was so reluctant to bench Worley last year and it wasn't about a redshirt. You need to be able to throw. This isn't 2006 where you can zoneread off the DE up and down the field.

D played well, though the LBs (other than 21) are a problem. We can talk about lack of depth but a decent offense gives them the rest(s) they need.

On CBJ, I remain to be convinced but there's no real alternative. Hopefully, he can continue to rake in recruits and eventually win on talent. But, the excessive WR rotating has to stop. It can't be good for recruiting and the only reason any of those guys could be tired is from running on and off the damn field.

Yet, UT is still undefeated in conference. Let's hope there is more improvement in store.

UF 2012 utterly destroyed me. Since then I haven't expected anything, and in typical UT fashion, haven't gotten much in return.

Right there with you. Witnessing that one in person was terrible. Getting abused by Vandy was also bad.

The saddest part is I hoped Butch would've learned from the FL game what happens when you get too conservative. He clearly didn't so what's to say he won't do the same again.

I'm pretty sure DeBord is just a yes man. We needed an innovative OC, not someone who earned the nickname Mike DeBoring at Michigan.

Exactly my thought. All I have been shown is that Butch is as stubborn as a mule. And the sad part is that we have at least 2 more years of this to watch....if we even make it that far as fans. The fanbase is going to quit giving if this crap keeps happening.

Such a disheartening loss. With no emotion involved, I'm honestly not sure Butch is the right guy to lead us back. A multitude of opportunities to make it a 3 score game, and we got ultra-conservative. Defense played plenty good enough to win that ballgame. We didn't score another point in regulation after the 12:15 mark in the 2nd quarter. That's sad.

Any semi-competent offense scores 30 in that game and puts it away early in the third

They take Pearson completely out of the passing game half the time by faking the hand off to him every other play. Also, making it harder on Wolf and the other WRs by lining them up in weird formations. Just a goofy, exhausting offense.

Havent felt this sick since the Dooley LSU loss.

Why would any WR want to come here btw? Pathetic waste of our strongest position on the field.

i was at mizzou 2012 when dooley let the clock run like a whole minute to go to OT and he was at like midfield. I was at 2012 UF. I was at 2013 Vandy. This one was right there if not worse bc we were up by 17 and OU really wanted no part of us for the longest time. This one stings man. i gotta stop putting so much into this program. We get nothing back.

That's the thing. The first drive of the second half was really good, and we would have scored a TD if Ellis hadn't dropped an easy one. After that the playcalling and execution looked tighter than spandex on K-Mack.

How many more of these type of losses do Butch and co. expect us to take? This program has tried its hardest to beat the love I have for this university right out of me over the last decade.

I'm almost speechless after this loss.

we were all on here begging for Sonnie Cumbie, Doug Meachem, Calvin mcgee and so forth. We went for a guy cleaning out the pools at Michigan. Bob Stoops made a major change after last season with Lincoln Riley. Their OL sucks and they run that system. What we are doing now is just terrible. So much talent just wasting away.

This loss hurt me more than any other.

This sounds dramatic, I know, but I spent the past few hours contemplating Tennesse football and it's place in my life, and I'm questioning it all. The amount of time and emotion I invest in it isn't healthy, especially when I get seemingly so little back.

I'm tired of booming for recruits and watching the team/coaches still choke away huge wins. Tired of checking this forum and Twitter religiously every day for a new glimpse of hope and getting the same results on the field.

None of it matters when we still lose games like this. It's painful. It hurts me to my core, way more than anything that doesn't directly involve my life should.

I think I'm done for a while.

Wellbye.gif

This describes me exactly since this game ended. I think I'll be doing some major re-priotitizing.

really is man. i dont understand it. Its predictable as hell after a while. OU was getting nowhere and they keep attacking though. I respect that. Different formations, different ideas, etc. They keep attacking. IDK what the hell we are doing. And guess what, their OL blows too. But its amazing what happens when you attack. Deboring started to try and melt the damn clock in the 3rd qtr.
