Recruiting Forum: Official Oklahoma Pre-Game/Game Thread

its western carolina. After tonight, i dont think many ppl give a damn about that one. they shouldnt atleast. Of course we will win. Those are the only type of games we win.

This. It's Western Carolina. Who cares? Sure, I'll be watching...nerver said i wouldn't, but I'll see how the season ends before I decide whether or not to reinvest my time and emotion so fully in CBJ's product. I honestly thought he was the guy to get it done, but I'm seriously doubting it now. He's gonna have to make several changes in philosophy. I sincerely hope he does.

Tough one to take. Coming into the year, my head told me that we're still a year away from a talent/experience standpoint. My heart ignored my head and invested itself anyway. At halftime, it looked like my heart was right. Still may be... Lots of season left. But this one couldn't get much more painful. Long post forthcoming.

Something isn't right with this offense. I honestly don't know what it is. Hurd is a monster and is exempt from the following criticism.

The WRs aren't producing at a level that reflects their ability. And I know we all want to scream at the coaches for that, but it's not that simple. Could Jones and Debord utilize them better? Absolutely. But the OL struggles still limit us there, I don't believe our guys can consistently get separation, and I don't believe Dobbs has the arm talent to 'throw his man open' so to speak. So that's on everybody involved.

We constantly lament or QBs' inability to connect on deep balls. On the other hand, when is the last time you saw one of our WRs just blow his man away from the line of scrimmage? North ran a 4.4 in high school. Malone is fast, Pig is fast, Jennings is fast. Yet they don't get separation on any consistent basis at all. On every deep attempt, the corner is right in their pocket. That feels like it shouldn't be the case, especially with our ever-present 'threat' of screen passes.

Dobbs. If his first read isn't there, he gets rid of the ball. Does he even have progressions? Is this another reflection of our OL's inability to pass protect long enough to find the second option, or can he just not go through reads?

OL. Don't even know what to say. It's hard to point at this guy or that one and call for his backup, because as often as not they were ALL getting beat. Dobbs can make one guy miss. He can't dodge the whole ****ing DL along with a couple of blitzers, and that's what he was having to do tonight. they've improved somewhat in the running game (though they didn't do **** for Kamara), but they played as bad as they ever have in pass pro from about the second quarter onward.

So many questions right now, and none of them easy to answer. I do think that I'll go back to trusting my head. Team 119 will have to prove it deserves it before I'll give up my heart again.

First trip for volssam jr?

No, sir. His 3rd actual game. (4th if you count orange and white).

It's one of the things I cherished about my childhood: coming to games with my dad. Hoping to carry it forward with my boy. Just hope he gets to witness similar success that I did. Ha.

Awesome. Enjoy. Have you taught him to woo? If so, not awesome.

One day.

Went to the game and did get mad at the in game coaching of this staff. But under Doola and Ful baby at the end, we would've lost by 20 plus. We should've win this game and CBJ was too conservative and told that to guys I went to game with.

Our depth is still not there and it is showing up in little small places. But you guys quiting on the VOLS and not investing anymore is as pathetic as any of the coaching. You are ******* and should just really leave. Regardless of who the coach is you are either a VFL or just get off the train and never come back. Hope these players are stronger mentally than you bunch of candy asses.

A win in Gainesville to break the streak will wipe all memories of this game away. I just can't believe it until I see it.

Agreed...but it's just hard to imagine it happening at this point. I just hope the team will continue to show up and not lose hope. I want to see them succeed so much it's ridiculous lol. Those kids deserve it.

Especially Maggit. Man that kid has given his entire all for this program through the worst stretch and it broke my heart to watch him on the sideline desperately cheering on his teammates. It's guys like him that deserve a packed house to play in front of every Saturday.

Who said anything about quitting on the Vols? The whole point which you apparently missed involved the large amounts of time us recruiting folks spend in the off season and during the week between games sitting on here, scrolling through twitter, reading every article, etc. Many (me included) are saying that after games like this it makes you wonder what the point of devoting that much of your life to this. You can still be a fan without it being so all-encompassing. If you think that's being a ***** then so be it.

No doubt about it. JRM, Cam, and DB as well. Those guys played their asses off. And will continue to do so.

Read a few and some of you probably are on here too much even if we were winning every game but that is in you not the staff. We lost in double OT to a team ranked higher and it hurt. But, not time to say we won't continue to get better. We have 22 real good guys but having a freshman or walk on at MLB shows why we are not there yet and why winning eight games would be progress and helping us to get there. This is the time to press on ahead Not time to throw in the towel.

Geez. Over react much. Does Butch pay you to stick up for him on a message board?

The only thing I agree with you is I hope the players have a strong mentality because their coach will not get them over the hump.
