I like it. Predict the worst so you’ll either be happy we won or not dissappointed we lost. I agree though we will either score a lot or none. Such a weird feeling about this game.
If we can run the ball effectively, the easy throws will be there (and the chains will keep moving). That’s the single most important thing from an offensive standpoint in my opinion. If we can’t run it with favorable numbers in the box, nothing will be open.To me it depends on why you think we struggled for long stretches vs. Bowling Green. Were those true struggles (i.e., Milton is not very accurate, WRs aren’t as good as we thought, offense gets off schedule) or were the struggles just first game issues that can be corrected?
I’m sure it’s a mix of those two things, and my fear is Narduzzi will confuse Milton and our offensive line with different blitzes and coverages.
If we have corrected most of our issues, I think we can score a ton because this offense is largely unstoppable when it clicks. But it can look as bad as any team in the country if it’s off/bad.
I agree with this entire statement but I think it's pretty unlikely we only score 10.To me it depends on why you think we struggled for long stretches vs. Bowling Green. Probably unlikely.
I went back for some precedent - 2017 was Heupel’s best year as an OC at Missouri. He got the UCF job off this performance.
Anyway, Missouri beat Missouri State 72-43 in Week 1. A great offensive performance no doubt about it.
They then lost 31-13 to a 9-4 South Carolina team in Week 2 and lost to a 7-6 Purdue team 35-3 in Week 3.
I say all this to say, it doesn’t seem like this offense has a linear progression. In fact, it can look really good one week and really bad the next. The reverse is true as well.
Probably unlikely.

I can only go by what I’ve read from media and football analytics folks and they say it’s the same offense just faster. The WR routes and splits are the same. Narduzzi said as much in his presser this week. There is next to zero chance "this offense" is the same as what Mizzou ran. Offensive minds aren't running one thing over and over, it isn't static year to year, and it's always adapted to the strengths of the team and weaknesses of the opponent. While I'm sure he has some common themes throughout, Heupel isn't Butch running the "infallible" offense he got from turning in Wheaties box tops.
I agree. Everyone worried about Milton. Just run the ball well and Milton can be average. If our OL plays well, we can win.If we can run the ball effectively, the easy throws will be there (and the chains will keep moving). You have no idea how much it pains me to agree with you..but I do in this case.To me it depends on why you think we struggled for long stretches vs. Bowling Green. Drew Lock went 12-28 with 2 ints in that game and subsequently they coud not run either...you have to remember that team was not loaded with talent either.Probably unlikely.

That is what I have been concerned with since he got here, and what I will remain concerned with till he consistently shows differently...but like you said, with that massive arm and those super wide splits this offense is going to be unstoppable when he is on..so the question is, how often will he be on? Another thing is the OL. When they run into a dominant DL will they be able to hold up long enough for the WRs to get open, and can they win enough one on one blocks for the run game to go decent? For sure. But that stat line doesn’t exactly seem out of the realm of possibility for Big Joe. Especially the completion percentage.
Yeah, it could certainly happen. I think the QB thing will happen, no doubt about it. Heupel will figure out the QB room even if it doesn’t happen this year. That is what I have been concerned with since he got here, and what I will remain concerned with till he consistently shows differently...but like you said, with that massive arm and those super wide splits this offense is going to be unstoppable when he is on..so the question is, how often will he be on? The reason I disagree so vehemently with you about Heupel as HC is this, if or rather when he gets some more really good OL, and a better and more consistent QB and WRs...this offense will be hard to stop for even the best defenses.
