'22 Recruiting Forum: Official Pittsburgh Pregame/Game Thread

I think we win but Pitt covers. Don’t think we break 40 though. 31-27 UT.

This will tell us a lot of our pass rush has improved from last year

This Pitt coach prides himself on stopping the run so the game is set. It's their DB's, man to man coverage, versus our wide receivers and Hooker. Put 45 on the board and take our chances.
We know Heupel will have our wrs schemed open all day long, Hooker dials in his long balls a bit and we put 50 on these cats.

You don’t think we score more than WVU did vs Pitt?
hard to say in a game by game manner. Western Michigan outscored us last year and even beat Pitt. I think our offensive output is similar to last years (31 and 34 are similar) while theirs drops off both from losing Pickett/Addison and our defense improving some.

Ced, Bru, and Jalin will definitely get a lot of 1 on 1 chances. Can we neuter their D-line long enough to take advantage? Our receivers are definitely better than their corners

Ced will not get one on one coverage. They will use some form of double team to limit him. It will be up to the others to get open and make plays

They may have to use man vs our spread. Either way, if they double him, one of our other guys is gonna fire up their head.

I saw a breakdown this weekend around how to defend our offense and they basically said you are forced to play man. If you play cover 3 or something similar, good night. Boy, I am excited for this weekend as I believe Pitt’s luck against us last year (wide open overthrows) and West Virginia’s careless handling of the ball last week will not happen on Saturday. Commence a beat down that brings much of the national hype back.

They will stack the box to stop the run. We carry the wide splits to spread them out. Their LBs will be unavailable for help in pass protection or coverage. If we can't run it up the middle, we'll blister them on the edge and kill them in the screen and deep shot game.

If our defense can stop the run and put a bit of pressure on the QB, we win walking away.

Also, I just have a feeling our defense will have a coming out party. Especially pass pressure. We'll see.

We did a halfway decent job with corner and safety blitzes last year. We didn't show much of that last week but I think we dial up some timely pressure and knock what's his nuts off his rhythm early.

The only thing our defense showed last week was about 30 players playing during the game That included a number of true and red short freshmen. Pitt has no correct idea what our defense will show.
