Recruiting Forum: Official South Carolina Pre-Game/Game Thread

Calm down Nancy. He was coach of the year after last week and now we need a whole new staff. I guess UF should retool their staff since they barely Vandy who is the equivalent of a jv high school team. Week to week football in the SEC. is tough and ain't pretty. Thought our D grew up tonight at the end of the game.

Yea I need to calm down tonight pissed me off.

And freaking what? If you don't know why it was brought up by me, it is because you are too lazy to go back and find out a few posts back. People on here freaking out because we played a tight game with USC.

I still think Butch does a ton of punch yourself in the face goofy things (that timeout on defense late, our always predictable offensive calls late with a lead, etc), but Butch didn't keep putting the ball on the ground. Butch didn't tell Malone to go out there and drop the easiest TD pass of the year (dear god this kid just kills me). And Butch didn't tell guys to keep slipping on the turf. We escaped a bad game, just like Florida did (which was much worse). It happens. A win is a win. 5-4.

Dobbs handed him the ball...... Best deep throw from Dobbs all year.

I have no idea what is up with that kid. He is the last guy I want to see dropping a gimme, given how clearly up in his head he already usually is. How does he not catch a single pass today? Especially after last week when it seemed he turned a corner.

One thing that's got me concerned is that SC defense is the worst we'll face the rest of the way save NTS. They pretty much shut us down after the first quarter except the one touchdown drive. We really had no answer. Not sure how we'll fair against the Vandy and Missouri Ds.

We did gave the answer. If Malone catches the ball and Pearson is paying attention. That is the answers for this stacking the box nonsense. Make the freakin easy play. That is what defenses are going to give us, until we make them pay by executing.

Yeah. Stack the box and make Dobbs beat you with his arm. That's the formula.

Forgot about the Pearson play. That was rough too, though he had a great game otherwise.

Dobbs also had a great game throwing the ball, other than a couple of bad forces that our WRs had to break up.

I agree. After the first quarter SC was going to make Dobbs beat them with his arm, down the field. No dunks and dinks either. Everybody knows Dobbs weakness is his throws over 15-20 yards. Good news is he seems to be getting a little better evidenced by both those throws.

His throws between the hashes and down the seam are just fine. 3rd down conversion rate was very good as well.

I actually think we need some improvement next year on defense. Aside from a couple of series where we got conservative offensively, fell apart late against OU and UF, gashed on the ground by Arkansas and gave up yards and plays to UGA and USC, who have struggled on offense. We need a more dominant defense.

As far I'm concerned it's a good win. Turn overs hurt. Dobbs is a warrior. Sutton gave the Vols some good field position with his punt returns.

What's puzzling to me is they look dominate at times and then all of a sudden they look like a Sunseri defense. Definitely make me scratch my head.

Randolf leaving the game may have had an impact too.

I expected an easy win tonight. That obviously didn't happen, but I have come away with 2 primary thoughts:

1.) SC is playing inspired ball. They're not the same team they were earlier in the year under Spurrier. Hats off to Ellis. He's doing a great job in a tough situation.

2.) We didn't play our best, but we found a way to win. Ill take it. That's progress.
