Recruiting Forum: Official Southern Miss Pre-Game/Game Thread

He fell backwards on a kneel for gods sake. It's blatant. Butch probably told him not to be a ***** or he would helm him

I kind of agree

I’ve never seen a team do what Chizik said. Punt in first down? Just run wildcat for a series? Throw in the walk on in a one score game? I mean, you can, but let’s not act like this is standard practice

exactly. it's piling on because everyone hates Butch. there's plenty to complain about.

Then it's inevitable that McBride loses it. damned if you do, damned if you don't.

he goes down, looks in pain and you think "ok he looks hurt and it might be long term"

you put McBride in and JG says he's good to go. ok... then go back out.

now he's thinking JG is too hurt despite JG saying he can play.

It's not that moronic.

If there's any chance he could come back you kill time for the rest of the drive with another option. Training staff could 100% tell him that.

The correct answer though is that JG should have never gone back in.

A redshirt is a luxury. When you lose two QB's in a season and you're the 3rd string guy you lose that luxury. Not like we threw him out there for some special McBride package when we didn't have to. Who else was supposed to play?

It's fine to pull a RS when it's injury related if you think the guy will play more than 3 plays. If not, it's stupid. Based on what I saw, Will needs to play the rest of this game. He may be needed a lot over the rest of the season.

Can someone please explain to me how we can run 10-12 great plays to start the game ( I get they’re scripted ) and then not run another good play the rest of the half. Makes no sense.

It’s moronic if they keep (an obviously injured and gimpy) JG in the rest of the game.

If McBride takes over in the second half, it’s much ado about nothing.

and if there's a turnover?

"WHY DIDN'T WE JUST PUT MCBRIDE IN?! FAHR BUTCH NOW"

It's Southern Miss in a season that couldn't be more meaningless. You're right of we're in the SECC race or even in the hunt for a good bowl.

Right, but no matter when you redshirt, one year of eligibility was 3 plays, if it stands as is

Heck... put Will back in. I wanna 👀 more

I get it.

But I also don’t like borrowing trouble from the future.

WM is being recruited over this cycle and it probably won’t matter in the next 3 years.

So we complain the past 4 weeks(even after U.K. Game) about saving the season and getting rid of Butch so we can make a bowl. But now nothing matters and we should put in a walk-on cause the season doesn't matter? Lol

Then it's on the RB because we'd be handing it off or direct snapping the whole drive.

Nice straw man though.

It's not. it's how y'all would act. overreaction for the sake of it. y'all complaining about McBride coming in and now complaining about JG being out there all in the same breath.
