'18 Recruiting Forum: Official West Virginia Pre-Game/Game Thread

This game isn't showing how much WVU has improved; it's showing how we haven't. We continue to have fundamental issues that are going to be exploited by teams who don't have a Heisman hopeful at QB. The same players who were too slow, missed tackles, got beat on plays and were out of position last year are playing the same way this year. Some of the older players just aren't good enough-- and they're not going to be good enough.

We’ve called multiple pressures from the secondary, A gap, we’ve dropped Ends into coverage. We’ve shown multiple fronts 3 and 4. There’s just nothing you can do when you don’t get to the QB.

What offensive play calls have you hated? We haven’t went deep a lot because they have played a deep soft shell zone the whole game. We’re doing exactly what you should do which is why JG is having a field day picking them apart.
There was some play calls that we didn't even try to get the first down. We've had times when we could have tested them deep but haven't.

WV has a young secondary and they've not busted. Our coaches are about where they should be for a rookie staff. They've got a lot of growing to do. As did Dooley, and Butch. Hopefully Pruitt is up to the challenge.

I hate rolling to one side at the goal line, your taking away half the field making it easier for the defense to cover it.

Kirkland and Bituli have been invisible. Tuttle, Johnson, and Phillips have been maybe serviceable at best. The secondary is young and expected to make mistakes, but nobody has even flashed potential. It's concerning.

I disagree about the middle. Tuttle and Johnson have shed a few blocks and actually created the only pressure we have had.

I thought we’ve Had some good coverage most of the game. We’ve pressed and bumped their WRs some. Got a few 3 and outs.
