sam - thanks for trying to bring out buddy back from the brink. He's starting to sound too much like me. That being said, I believe the Lord shares with us his wisdom and discernment when he knows our hearts are right. The way I see it baby's exercising what he has been given to cut through the blind loyalty and devotion to the words of man. Call it a "learning experience" for him. lol.
I have learned from my past mistakes...Butch hasn't. Because of that, I'm skeptical about his coaching ability. It's going to start hurting him on the recruiting trail, too...may have already with Mecole...sounds like he slammed the door shut on us after this weekend. If and when he can prove to me that he can win a big game and open his playbook up, then I'll stop being skeptical. He has the roster to win THIS YEAR, and that was proven Saturday night. He needs to get out of his own way and quit convincing himself that we are too young. This team is so hungry, if he will just trust them. JUST WIN! I can live with losing because of a turnover due to aggressive play-calling, but not losing like Saturday night. As gut-wrenching as UGA 2013 was, I can live with that, because made some aggressive, play to win calls. Butch needs to find that guy who coached that game, and let him coach like that every game.
I really don't care what the score is against WC and there is no doubt about winning. I want to see some talented young pups like Kirkland, Tuttle, K-Mack, JJ and Dormady out there doing their thing getting game experience. I also want to see them practice their offensive scheme against pressure defense since 9/26 they will be seeing it big time. Time to get real since the SEC schedule is coming.
lol. I'm with you friend. A good sign of wisdom is to learn from mistakes and make changes. Not seeing enough of that with Butch. Half time adjustments are great indicators. In game adjustments are even better.
I think that there are many, many people that have knowledge and force of personality that easily convince others they are leaders. But football goes way beyond that. It is a game of strategy before, during and after the game with so many variables. You cannot quantify everything and play the percentages every time and expect to win when you have the opportunity against quality opponents. Call it feel, intuition, whatever. There is a flow to games and plays. Momentum or the lack of it is real because emotion plays a very real part. The other guys are doing the same things you are, trying to determine and create weaknesses in your team that they can exploit. So its not a static situation by any means. You have to adapt, change, evolve, encourage, motivate, etc. He dogmatically believes in his system to his own detriment IMO.
You are right on recruiting. You will understand the following. The primary talent he has will even be taken away when he does not produce the return for the master. Getting all Biblical up in here.![]()

WCU is a dirty team. They will take shots and try to get us hurt... :banghead2: :banghead2:

They'll be flat after an emotional loss, that's my prediction anyway. We have a very weak MLB, no Danny Obrien, and no Maggitt. They will score late in the game against the second string we put in.
We have a guy at MLB that Western Carolina would
Love to have, Wetherd to replace Maggitt, and two 5-star DTs to replace O'brien
And I guarantee you this team will not be flat

Where is dominant Kyle Phillips? Play him since he's ready coaches. Complaining about depth but Butch doesn't trust young players. It's clear now.....
Also if McNeil is back I wonder if TKjr will pair up with him on the back end. Randolph is good in the box but I truly don't trust him in coverage.
