I went to the game in Tuscaloosa in 2011 knowing we would get our brains bashed in, and I *still* didn't feel as hopeless as I do today. I also went to the Kentucky game that year, and even after we lost Tennessee football didn't feel as futile as it does right now.

When Kiffin left I remember my dad saying “he just set Tennessee back a decade.”

The disarray leading to the Dooley hire, which limited candidates to Butch level... has us where we are now.

Somebody could have changed that path for sure. But looks like in year 2 of our next coach will finally get us outside of that decade of misery

I said in here the night Kiffin left that he had just nuked us back to the stone age of the Battle years. I was told I was just being overly pessimistic and dramatic.

If the goal of the UT admin has been to lower expectations..then they have done a good job with me. I expect them just to keep on causing us humiliation and disappointment now.

Me too. I kinda doubt it's going to happen, but I think we've reached the point where a change is certainly defensible. Would have been less so after Georgia, but we're firmly entrenched as a national punchline, no one has any respect for us whatsoever, so I'm not sure what is left to lose.

They truly have failed a fanbase that deserves far, far better.

It was just a year ago that we were 5-0 and I had finally allowed myself to believe Tennessee was fixed. It feels much longer ago than that.

I'm afraid if we make the wrong hire again this program will never be elite again. At least not for a very long time. If we hire some bum, we'll be considered a bottom feeder program in this league from here on out IMO. Such a critical hire.
