Its a matter of hiring a DC and letting them do their job. Its called delegating authority and holding them accountable for results.

I think it's a fairly common sentiment though that Dabo Swinney, while not a bad coach by any stretch of the imagination, is not on the level as a football coach of Saban, Meyer, or the like. And yes, I'm aware that he beat both of them last year (embarrassed one of them, actually). But Swinney is an amazing recruiter and program manager. He has surrounded himself with some fantastic football minds and is reaping the rewards of that.
Not that simple...an offensive coach has to make sure he isnt overemphasizing offense on a daily basis. Cant favor offensive players. Has to make sure practice schedule isnt tilted to the offense. Not as simple as hiring a great DC. Culture matters.
Otherwise Bob Shoop would have us a top 20 defense like he did everywhere else.
