Recruiting Forum: UNofficial Alabama Pre-Game Thread

Ugh...this is the first gameday this year that I have not been jacked about. Extremely banged up, especially on offense, starting QB out, probably down 2 OL, best RB banged up, one of better WRs out, and a bunch of the team is battling the flu...sounds like a recipe for disaster! Not conceding any loss, but hope the crowd can do its part and pump some energy in the team. And please don't sell your tickets to Bama fans!

Yeah, minutes after the game, I have to head to church where the pastor is from Tuscaloosa.

God works humility in interesting ways

I'm just here to watch the defense.

Yep, D =

O = :thud:

D coaches can take guys like McNeil who stunk it up and make them into predators.

O coaches can take their O-linemen and make them into statutes.

D coaches can get their unit to hold a top, undefeated team at their homecoming on their first 7 drives to zero points despite having no experienced depth.

O coaches can get their unit to score 3 points after those 7 stops despite having excellent field position on most of them.

And that is just a snapshot of the most of the season. Hurry up and get here 2015.

To add to that touch of irony, our pastor of our church in east TN is from there as well. He does not shy from letting us know all about it. Truly humbling experience. Says he is staying until Bama loses to UT, so to expect him to be around for a long time. He obviously needs to be sent packing. Please, Lord. :)

Couple of things that I'm looking forward to.

-Not sure if it was by design (I doubt it), but Bama's kickoff guy, J.K. Scott, has had very few touchbacks on the year. He kicked off 9 times against A&M, all were returned. Evan Berry will get plenty of reps.

-Volquest said earlier in the week that Derrell Scott will be inserted to the game a lot earlier today. They wanted him to get in against Ole Miss, but they couldn't find a good spot for him. So you'll most likely see 2 true freshman RBs in the 1st Quarter for UT.

-In my opinion, Ethan Wolf is the X-factor in this game. He needs to be utilized a lot more than he has been. He will be crucial in the run game as a blocker also.

-On the OL, not sure what to say here. Play hard play fast. Communicate and hold. Just hold.

-For the QB situation, if Worley is out for an extended period of time, Dobbs should be fair game. If Worley is out today, Peterman should get the start. However, his OC needs to help him out. Quick reads, quick passes, extra protection. Give him some easy throws and hopefully you can get something out of the run game.

-With all of that being said, I still expect Dobbs to play today. And play a lot.

-I'm going to be very interested to see how our defense plays today. They run downhill like UGA did. Yeldon and Henry are good backs. They run with power. Yeldon has some wiggle. Blake Sims can tuck it and run.

-If Bama has success running the ball, you're going to see Kiffin bring out the play action. He will take some shots. He will test Williams, Coleman, and Moseley. I think Cooper will run about 5-6 slants and then he will try to double move on Sutton. Idk we'll see. I think Sutton holds up, but I'm weary of our other CBs.

-I think it'll be a lot closer than last year. However, Bama is just in control throughout the game. Bama-38, UT-10

Small SN: Me and my gf have season tix. We've had them for 2 years now. Anyways, we were at the UTC game 2 weeks ago. There's a woman, who sits right behind us. She's annoying af. I overheard her telling her friend that she had sold all 8 of her tickets in that row to Bama fans. REALLY pissed me off.

Or a ESPN " what if I told you" moment when we win.

Quiet your outer turmoil young newt
Listen to your inner Vol
There you will find the true Orange Optimism and Power that lives within all VFLs!
Dig deep and believe that a day of reckoning is nigh. Truly the Volunteer Spirit has blessed our team with a chance to embarrass and hopefully destroy the career of one of the prime evildoers responsible for the hard times Volnation has had to endure.
You can and will overcome the lack of faith and "realism" that hast befallen you. Charge out of the darkness and lend your voice and power to the players that champion our cause. For it is the right course, the only course of action worthy of those that make claim to the honor that is a VFL! :salute:

A little over the top? Nah. My birthday is tomorrow. Vols do not lose to bammers on my birthday! :)

If we pull the birthday upset I will come over to southlake and mow your lawn!

Our other CBs haven't played bad...... Williams in particular has played well.....

Watching Gameday this morning and they had Finebaum on talking about how UT fans will not let Kiffin go. Nothing has made me feel more sure that Finebaum and Herbstreit have no idea what they are talking about hearing those two talk.

Any good suggestions on a good place to eat before the game on the strip? Old college inn perhaps?

On the strip? Not much to choose from, IMO. Copper Cellar is good. But if you don't mind the walk then go to Markets Square. Lots of good stuff to choose from there. Not Watson's is amazing. So are Stock and Barrel, Cocoa Moon, Cafe 4, and Tupelo Honey. One street over on Gay Street you have Downtown Grille and Brewery which is a staple of downtown.

No they haven't. I've been surprised with Williams' play this year. You can see his growth from game 1 to game 7.

I think our defense will be put in some vulnerable situations though.

The media is pushing it... Finebaum seems to want to push buttons to get ratings.

thank you :hi:

The one thing that doesn't help is that stupid political thing ad going around involving Lane Kiffin. Stupid idea, IMO. Other than that I honestly think that the vast majority of the fanbase has forgotten about him, but do enjoy seeing him sturggle. That is not "obsessed" like Finebaum and ESPN say. If they would do their homework then maybe they would say something that had meaning. All they see is us being mad that he left. We are more mad that he took half our recruiting class. But, that has actually blown over now more or less.

Bama force feeds Coop. And that line got dominated by Arkansas D-line. Barnett and Maggitt are better ends than the Arky boys. Our defense is very good.
