Recruiting Forum: UNofficial Mizzou Pre-Game Thread

With the offensive game plan they had in the first half the right thing to do is what Butch did.

No TE except on Butch's fake FG call. Slow developing plays got killed. Did not throw deep intentionally to loosen the zone. Did not use Pearson nearly enough. Very few pure zone reads. Needs to fix it.

I would be on the side of those who are upset if we did not have the ball starting the second half.

I'm fine with that first half. The OL sucked but we looked better than them overall I thought. Getting Randolph back may help with some of those misalignments.

I think we pull away sometime in the second half. The crowd sounds great.

Don't feel very good. If Dobbs can't get free to run it closes off the whole offense.

Need to get them out of that 4-3 look...too much pressure.

I was ticked at first about us not using timeouts or making an attempt in the final minute and a half.

But, after some reflection, I came to the conclusion it was probably the smartest idea. Our offense has been spotty, and passing would be required. You pass and use timeouts down there and don't convert, the next thing you know, Mizzou (who has actually scored two TDs and not a fake one) has the ball again with 30 to 45 seconds left and two timeouts (whatever it was).

This game feels like last year's Vanderbilt game to me. Hopefully we get the offense rolling in the 2nd half.

Butch didn't panic in South Carolina when 90 % of this board gave up.

Maybe you call a time out before the punt. If they punt it inside our 30 run the clock.

They punted with 15 seconds on the play clock and punted inside the 30.

Regroup at half. Come out and just win.

Super conservative. Must be happy with being tied. What message does that send?

That we are tied at halftime with #19 and in a real dogfight...make adjustments at the half and come out firing in the 3rd...I hope. I'm not a fan of the call but I don't hate it either.

You may be right about us winning, but I disagree about us looking better.

Admittedly, our offense was looking better towards the end of the half though. Hopefully we can find paydirt soon, without having to have our holder throw another pass that was touched by the hand of God.

We are right in this game with bad offense, mediocre defense, and fantastic special teams. Improve in 2 phases and we are going bowling!

You can't really be critical of being conservative when he called that fake FG toss in my opinion. Plus with the way they were dominating line of scrimmage I think you go into the half and adjust some things.

I remember folks destroying Fulmer for playing for points just before the half against Notre Dame. Eric Ainge got hurt with less than a minute to play in the half and missed several games that season.

People are gonna piss and moan no matter what.

No shat Sherlock. The line of scrimmage thing is not something easily corrected during half time. That's what has me worried.

We turn it over in that time right before half and people would go berserk over going for points.

The offense has been shaky all game. I think it was the right call to go in at half tied and regroup especially getting the ball to start the second half.
