Hate it for him too, but had he kept going he probably picks up the first down, and doesn't get hurt. I didn't understand what he was trying to do there. He had the guy beat to the corner, had he not delayed and tried to cut it up field.

I think he broke it then, because it was strange how he just stopped.

Yes. Yes i can. Because theres a double standard with that. If the team had that mentality, this fanbase would rip these kids. Give them the same attitude that you expect from them.

To me that's on par with saying fans shouldn't look ahead to future games because it would be bad if the team did too. Fans are afforded a different perspective on things than the team.

Thats not on par at all. You are not afforded a pass on giving up on the team when you know youd turn around and rip them for it. You are a fan. You are there for support and support alone. The fact that you are condoning a give up attitude is sad.

That's fine. I guess my sarcasm/joking meter is broken. I don't care about jokes because I hear them all of the time, but is so funny that people crack on attorneys until they need one. I don't run in the highest of circles. I just do it myself.

Yeah, it's very true and I've seen firsthand, undeniable proof that a good lawyer is worth paying for when you need it. The reason for the jokes is that a good lawyer costs lots and you have no choice but to get one. Plus you're usually in a bad time in your life as it is.

For example, you get a divorce. Your life is kinda in a bad spot, you're unhappy, and the two of you are both paying money out of the household income to pay a couple of lawyers to divide your stuff. I mean, thousands of dollars to get half your crap taken away because you just walked in on your wife with the lawn guy (and no, this example is not personal experience). It's not the attorney's fault, but you can understand the jokes, right?

I understand the jokes. But, first, as you say, it's not an attorney's fault that it happens in the first place. Second, you don't need an attorney in a divorce (or the couple can use one attorney) if the couple agrees to the division of assets. It costs thousands of dollars when both sides are arguing over the sectional sofa. It's not the attorney's fault. It's emotional clients.

I don't practice domestic work anymore because it's worse than criminal cases.

That is exactly on par. You are picking and choosing your battles. And just because they won doesn't mean I change anything about what I said. The D-scheme was horrible. That is on the coaches. Not the players. Not sure I ever said anything bad about a player all night.

I'm going to ride the fence on this whole day after look back stuff. I think some of you are entirely too emotional during games and say things that should never make it onto screen, but you can't be blamed for second thoughts. Our team didn't play a great all around game, and ehat they are doing is more than fair game to discuss. I suggest that a lot of you do like I do and stop posting when you are on the fritz about the game.

As a side note, there is never an excuse for the people that say they give up on the coaches/team. Those of you that are stupid enough to type that out really should find a new team.

I don't see how you guys post during a game anyway. I'm too emotionally invested in the game to think about a message board during the game. It's GREAT to have a son that is as passionate about it as I am to watch the games with.

It's pure gold to get on here after the game and read the comments after the fact though lol.

I can't either, I'm a mess.

There's a big difference in losing hope on a particular game and giving up on that game and giving up on the team/coaches long term. If everyone was forced to bet their life savings on the outcome of that game with 4 min to go, only the foolish would have taken TN to win. Jmho.

Just calling it like I see it, pal. Mine was one example. I'm sure there are many.

I'm not better than anyone, by the way. Maybe just a more level-headed fan than some.

You know, like I wouldn't complain about play-calling if I'd never played football...

I was not able to start watching until after 10PM. Made it without knowing the score when I started watching. Was nearly impossible to keep from checking the final score as I watched. I am glad that I was able to resist, great game for UT. :salute:
Almost had a heart attack though:)

Yeah, I was involved with attorneys that focused on criminal, constitutional, anti-trust, corporate, and family law. Family law was the worst. I honestly don't know how they did it for their whole career. I saw people fight like banshees for assets but not children. I saw people fearful for their lives, convinced their spouse was going to murder them. It's a rough biz. Most client meetings invoked cases of Kleenex. I hated it. I loved the other areas, constitutional law was particularly fascinating and the attorneys I knew even argued before the Supreme Court on one case I worked on.

I certainly didn't feel good about winning the game with about four minutes left when my grandson (almost 10) did a little dance and said that it would help us win. I said "good boy" and after we scored to make it 35-42 I told him it must be working, then when we scored to tie we gave each other a double "high-five". After USC missed their FG I told him he pulled us through for the win. He's convinced his "dance" pulled out the win.

Hug him for all of us!
Also tell him that he has started something special he must do it for every Volunteer football game:)

It's understandable for people to think we were going to lose, but all the hyper emotional prepubescent *****ing bull**** needs to stay in your mind. Anyone that is immature enough to vomit that stuff onto the board is more than open to any and all "Vol Card" questioning they recieve.

Anybody that is still a Vol fan after the last few years has a lifetime "Vol card". What is just as pathetic are the "super fans" that think others are not fans because they are critical at times. What is said on this board has little to no effect in what happens on Saturday. My suggestion is place those posters that you feel are too negative on ignore if it upsets you that much. There are posters that are over the top. Does it bother me? Heck no! It shows the poster is passionate about the Vols. His methods might be misguided but they want the same thing all Vol fans want, to win every game. What bothers me more is when the "Super Fans" start taking up "Vol Cards".

I have to agree that calling out anyone who still cheers for the Vols after all we've been through is silly.

Being negative is A ok, that's why I'm just fine with catbone. Love that guy. I'm fine with questioning the decisions of our coaches/players, it's our right. But I am not ok with nor will I ever be ok with the people that go over the top. It's only a very small number of people that are this way, most of them reside solely on the FF. If they are stupid enough to post when overly emotional then they deserve as much criticism as they can get. This is a social medium, if you're going to put something stupid out there then be ready to get taken to town over it.

The people that were saying "game" after Wild's score are fine, but people saying they give up on this team/ can't wait till we get our new coach/ etc can go **** themselves. If you can't tell those people rustle my jimmies a little. And as everyone on here knows, I'm a very mellow poster so that is not an easily done thing.

I think you may take this stuff a little too serious. I think those posters let their post speak for themselves. It seriously doesn't bother me one bit. I'm quite a bit older thsn you I suspect maybe that's why.

You people making sweeping judgments and acting indignant about other fans because of thoughts people have that happen to end up on a forum are so melodramatic. It's a message board about a sports team, nothing more. Fathers are not denouncing their kids, citizens are not denouncing their country, preachers aren't denouncing their faith.

Get some perspective.

Who cares if people typed out the thought that they give up on butch. Who. Cares.

I just wish our fan base was a bit more mature. A lot of people need to learn how to take a deep breathe and get away from VN for a couple minutes.

Dude, you're saying "go f yourself" to people who post negative thoughts about a sports team. You're a good poster and seem like a good person, but this advice could definitely apply to you too.
