Bull****. Everyone around me was ecstatic.

so i guess you could tell if some one across the stadium was drunk and being stupid?.. take that bull**** crap out of here. just because your section was fun to be around does not mean all the sections are.

anyways very nice win today, very proud of this team.

are we back?

im seeing a light at the end of the tunnel!!

I avoided any score updates and had a great time with the fam at the museum. Came home and watched the game and enjoyed it immensely! A few thoughts...

1a. WE WIN THE COIN TOSS!!!

1b. The overall speed of our VOLS was to much for the much slower Hawkeyes. Hurd and the the rest of the offense were able to get to the outside and turn the corner often. JH was a friggin man beast today.

2. The defense was very disciplined for the most part. I think we might have drawn an SEC officiating crew because our DL got held a lot. I will give the Iowa OL credit though. They were good but I saw multiple holds and none got called.

3. Play calling was pretty good. JDobbs almost had a huge downfield pass to Pig but just put a little to much on it. When we got up so much I would have preferred to see them take a lot more shots down the field and try to build that confidence in JDobbs.

4. So glad to be a VOL today and I am stoked for the recruiting class to get wrapped up and start the offseason. The faster it gets going the sooner it will be.... FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE!!!

Thanks to all the VFLs that went down and supported Team 118. Those boys played their hearts out for us today!

I survived 8 hours of work and 30 minutes of commuting to get home with no knowledge of the game. Just finished watching it on the DVR!

GBO!!!

Can't wait to start next season!

I don't agree with the revised call on the KO. He tossed the ball forward on a play where there was no line of scrimmage. There may be something left for interpretation in the rulebook that we don't know - but the call does not make sense. So if it happens on a punt, does that mean it is not a fumble? Guarantee they call it a fumble. Not buying it.

What i got sick of seeing was the officials not calling horrible holding in virtually every game I watched. Conspiracy theory and tin foil hat time. The B10 is noted for being the worst culprits for this by fans everywhere. Big strong slower O-lines that latch on and won't let go. So they decide to let it go unless it is blatant in the open for all the games Any takers? lol.

That should have been our ball on the forward pass/stroke that Iowa player had on the KO

You could tell by watching the officials on TV that they didn't know what to do. I'd say they talked to the "replay" official and he was lost too. Most likely they just made a guess on what to do and chose the pass crap. It should have been Tennessee's ball.

I loved what Butch said in the halftime interview when asked about what he said to the officials, "I told them they are doing a great job and representing their conference well."

I never heard it said where the officials were from. I know they have to be from a conference other than where the two teams are from.

Edit: Just checked, this was a PAC 12 crew.

It was the right call. It's in the rule book, Rule 7, section 3, article 2. Bullet "C" for that situation.

Illegal Forward Pass
ARTICLE 2. A forward pass is illegal if:
a. It is thrown by a Team A player whose entire body is beyond the neutral
zone when he releases the ball.
b. It is thrown by a Team B player.
c. It is thrown after team possession has changed during the down.
d. It is the second forward pass during the same down.
e. It is thrown from in or behind the neutral zone after a ball carrier’s entire
body and the ball have been beyond the neutral zone.

Still kinda vague, but the NFL rule book is worded similarly and has this specific example:

A.R. 8.4
A punt is caught on the receiving team’s 20-yard line. The player who caught the ball attempts to throw a
backward pass, but the ball goes forward and hits the ground. The kicking team falls on it.
Ruling: Illegal forward pass. The ball is dead when it hits the ground. Penalize from the spot of the pass. B’s
ball first-and-10 on B15 (8-1-2-Pen. c).

It was one of the dumbest things I"ve ever seen, and more of a chest pass than you'd usually see in football but the rule was correctly interpreted/applied.

Thats all assuming the play can be considered a pass. Fumbles dont happen backwards and not forwards. It wasnt an easy ruling though.

One of my favorite parts of the game was having all the seniors (I think), even defensive guys, line up for the kneel down.

Great you got thru the day without hearing the score. I've had to do that several times over the years. It's not always easy to do.

Wow good find, I was wrong. I didn't think you could have incomplete passes on kickoffs.

Holding.
