'21 Recruiting Forum: Vanderbilt Pregame/Game Thread

I am worried about this defense going forward. I’m not sure if it’s due to lack of talent or scheme. But it isn’t looking good and seems to be getting worse

Our guys aren’t getting any push on the DL on 4th downs and our safeties are killing us. Not to mention Warren Burrell is just ass.

This team won 3 games last year. The defense is what it was supposed to be the offense has a plethora of starters out. If you expected a Bama or UGA style beat down then turn the TV off and turn it back on in a few years.

We literally beat better teams by worse than this! It’s VANDERBILT.

Saying it again, Banks sucks on critical downs. Always outmatched. Zone when man was appropriate, calls the blitz wrong. Defense is aggressive on first second but his third and fourth down calls are noticeably bad.

You can say whatever about TOP, but our 3rd and 4th down defense contribute a lot to that stat. We are atrocious on those downs.

I don’t get all the hate on the defense. It’s ridiculous. Just be happy we are not 3-8. In 3 years if the defense still sucks and we have 5 loses, I can understand that, but right not it’s silly.

Imagine being a DL who could get off the field if you just stopped a 4th down instead of playing 10 more plays yet, you don’t have the heart to get enough push to want to get off the field…

It’s like our defense doesn’t want to get off the field.

For those who haven’t figured it out yet, Vanderbilt isn’t trying to win this game. They’re just tying to keep the final score as close as possible. You don’t go on 20 play, 11 minute drives when you are down by 25 in the 4th quarter.

He’s got a guy learning how to play Mike LB on the fly.
Two Safetys who both run about a 4.9 and one CB who has no feel for the game.

You can’t play Man on every passing down with those kind of guys

We need players who can do what DC Banks is asking them to do or for Banks to change his philosophy. If the D could get off the field the O would average 50 points per game.

Feel like that side of the ball was impacted the most by losing guys. And you know Pruitt’s last staff didn’t develop ****.

Offense we run tempo so rarely see the 2nd string anyway.

This isn't the Vandy of week 1. We've already scored more than OM did last week. UK only beat Vandy by 17. They played Mizzo7 close as well. Settle down. I remember the Pruitt Dooley Butch years when we were losing to Vandy
