Meh

1) It means Bru is eligible

2) Many NIL deals are structured as multi-year deals, so "nil shopping" should be limited for big time players anyway

3) How many players transfer more than once? While once isn't uncommon, 2-3 is very rare.

4) Even now, 2nd transfers can get waivers. Most waivers are approved. So, not sure what pragmatic difference it makes?

5) Human nature is toward stability. Ask the average employee - they hate change. Most players will want to find a steady team, family, and set of coaches.

For reasons #2-5 I think this makes it a mostly moot point.

Recruiting won't be harder. Retention will be much harder.
Fair. I'm thankful that our coach seems to have a culture built on family, honesty, genuineness and care for each other. I think the coaches who genuinely care and treat their players well will fare better.

The good news is, this should put a stop to the abusive, harsh, hostile tactics and treatment that some coaches have been known for. People arent gonna be stuck with the same programs anymore.

I kind of feel bad for the athlete that hits the transfer portal and finds out they have no scholarship waiting on them. This will happen to many, many student athletes.
You can still return (assuming the school doesn't pull their scholarship...often schools will not want to burn that bridge for zero reason). Even then, their scholarship is good through that semester.

You have any data on percentage returning after entry into the portal? Bet it is not a big number.

I think it will lead to more incentivized entries by the schools when they know of guys buried on depth charts that would like new homes and all they need is room under the 85.

Some in doubt may be attracted by some NIL offerings as well. Collectives can go shopping by GUESSING what needs their school might like to fill. Probably will do that some to force the original school to drop some coin on guys BEFORE they enter the portal. Don't know of any way the NCAA can keep inquiries by collectives out of the picture and keep the staffs clean.

The great majority of time nobody is going to transfer more than twice. This ruling really won’t Change much. The majority of folks that transfer do just once. Most players want to find a home and stay there. GBO!

I like it. It's going to be close to impossible to horde talent now. Help has been ahead of the curve so far. Thus also means it won't take 4 or 5 years to rebuild a program. That's a great thing. We have the resources to to become elite in this system. This is going to work in our favor. Mark my words
