Redesigned College Helmets

28-I do like the matte. I'd like to see our traditional helmet done in matte white with plain orange Power T and stripe or with chrome finish on stripe and T. Matte white face mask, no smokey on it.

Having said that, I do like our smokey unis, helmet and all...except for the darker shade of grey on the shoulders. I wish it was either the dark or light the whole way around.

Rule of thumb. You don't change Notre Dame helmets, You don't change Alabama's helmets, and you don't change Tennessee's helmets.

You're 420 years old? :eek:hmy:

I know the marijuana reference btw. :)

You saw what I did there.

You must be part of the underground.

I'll be 41 in Feb. I'm ok with change.

Even more so if the change is progress which I know is subjective...

As long as they don't substitute helmets for canvas and try to make Picasso paintings stick to them like they've done with Maryland and a few other teams I'm cool/

A checkerboard does not mesh with a big, block T--it doesn't. They clash, and a checkerboard is just plain ugly as a uniform element of any kind, unless it is very small and inconspicuous as we now have.

Thanks. Now that we have it on your authority what meshes I feel there is no need for a thread on this anymore.

I don't know why people keep trying to go super-flashy on the helmets. What I'd like to see:

Helmet #1: White helmet, orange stripe fading to the checkerboard in the back, Power T on the sides, orange face cage (too much white otherwise).

Helmet #2: Same as the grey from 2015, orange face cage.

Only a small change to the cage color. Too much checkerboard pattern does not translate well on-camera.

And though I love reasonable enhancements to the traditional uniform, I am not thrilled with alternate helmets. In football, your helmet is your trademark. Some, like Oregon and Maryland, overdo it and look like a clown show. Some, like PSU and Bama, are plain Janes and should do more with it, IMO.

Some, especially Arizona State and Navy, have stepped up and created new iconic helmets. However, a few select programs have had the perfect helmet for years and shuld leave well enough alone. 3 programs that I place in this catagory: Michigan, Wisconsin, and of course, Tennessee.

I will never understand why people are so fascinated with changing what we have and so many like.

I agree with you :)

I'm old enough for only 2 or 3 in here not have to say Mister to me :)

and i hate the dog fart smokey grey and yes,I know I'd say I'd refrain from making comments about uniform changes

Shhhhhh. The checkerboard is really a solar panel in disguise. Receivers will be able to telepathically relay to the QB that they are open. Shhhhhh.

34. If this is just a one game helmet we are talking about then I would keep the helmet as is but replace the Power T with the alternate logos like the guy holding the gun or the old school VOLS with lines thru it. JMO

It is called the rifleman and it is called that for a reason
