Reece Davis was on Feinbaum yesterday discussing CFP. He stated emphatically that Oregon should be in the mix as the Georgia/TN beat down was every bit the same beat down as GA 49-3 over Oregon?!?! That was on a neutral field. ESPN is dying to have west coast representation. Ridiculous stmt

I need to hear how a 46 point loss is the same as a 14 point loss.

Math is hard for Reece apparantly.

Goes a long way toward having a coast to coast viewing audience for the playoff first round.

Exactly. When you look at things from that perspective, Oregon is the obvious choice. They want no part of multiple SEC teams in the playoffs. Our only hope is that Oregon and TCU lose again. If it's close enough that the pundits and committee can justify anyone other than UT, that's exactly what's going to happen.

A one loss Pac team is going to get in. I’m not saying I agree with it, but Oregon will get in if they have 1 loss, same for USC or UCLA. I really think it’s down to us and TCU. We need TCU to lose and probably need OSU to beat Michigan (preferably rather soundly).

That said, oregons resume is trash. One win over a ranked team (UCLA at home).

Ideal situation: 2 loss pac winner. Which is still feasible. USC still has ucla and notre dame. Oregon still has Utah. And then a championship game.

Things are gone get interesting.

ESPN is already trying to spin a narrative about Tennessee and the College Football Playoff

"I can’t even wrap my head around how foolish this sounds.

Dinich doesn’t think a one-loss SEC team (Tennessee) getting into the playoff is realistic?

But a two-loss SEC team (LSU) getting in is realistic?

I can’t make it make sense.

Especially when Dinich also thinks a one-loss Clemson still has a chance with a weaker schedule. Or a one-loss Oregon if they win the Pac-12.

It’s clear that ESPN is just trying to get ahead of any controversy surrounding a one-loss Tennessee team.

Because ESPN acting like it’s not even possible isn’t just foolish, it’s insulting to college football fans.

By the way, it’s not just Dinich spinning this narrative.

Kirk Herbstreit is right there with her."

"We’ve known for a while that ESPN has an anti-Tennessee bias. They’re certainly not doing anything to disprove that notion."

This is why we need Oregon to lose another game. The only good thing for us is we have the Georgia common opponent for comparison.

If they win out they will be PAC12 champs while we were sitting out. That won't be overlooked and will at least have them in talks for consideration to be one of the 4 teams.

You know what’s not every bit the same? Tennessee and Oregon’s resume. Our SOS destroys theirs and we currently hold a blowout win over a top 10 team in LSU in which is something they do not have.

40 points is a beat down. We were 1 long all away from making it a game for the most part. Not to mention Oregon was at a neutral site while we were at Georgia.

Unfortunately, we are in the uncomfortable position of pulling for Georgia to win out. Them getting beat in the SEC Champ game is the only thing I see that keeps us out of the playoffs. If we take care of our business, we'll be in as the best 1 loss team, only losing to far and away top rated Georgia. Winner of OS/UM is in, and if TCU keeps winning, they could be in as well.

Davis also said he has UT #4 right now when he was asked where he thought UT would be.

The reality is we're going to need a lot of help. Committee will want to include conference champions wherever they can. And they'll be looking for reasons not to just stack SEC and Big10 teams.

Oregon, USC, UCLA, TCU, Clemson, and UNC could all still win out and be a 1-loss P5 champion. We may need all but one of them to finish with at least 2 losses. And that's on top of needing Georgia to win the SECCG and OSU/Michigan to be one-sided.

The good news is that there's a lot of football left to be played and all of those teams have loseable games left. Just need to win big the next three weeks and wait and see what happens.
