Regional Hosting Sites, NCAA Selection Thoughts and Projections

Let's do some bracketology lessons:

In a seeded format, all teams are paired with their "opposite." (i.e. first/last, 2nd/next to last)

There are 64 teams, so #1 should be playing the #64 team in round one. So, whoever the committee decides is the worst team will be coming to play us in round 1.

(In seeded brackets, assume the higher seed wins before you move on.) After round 1, only numbers 1-32 won. Therefore, number one deserves the easiest path, which is #32. If you go back to round one and match up all the "opposites," you're left with 32 playing 33.

So in order to make all that happen, you have to send the number 32, 33, and 64 teams to Knocksville. In theory.

They move some of the pieces around for travel reasons and such. Also, last year it was nearly criminal how strong our regional was. But as the number 1, we deserve the "theory."

If we make it out of regional, the number 16 team should then come calling on us for a dose of dongs in the Supers.

Sorry that's rambling, but maybe it helped some bracket novices.

I was looking at numbers
Mississippi likely should get in but- with a small bubble, likely can’t.
They deserve a spot more than Rutgers
The B1G simply does not deserve 3 spots and I hope the committee simply replaces Rutgers with Michigan.

I also agree with Chris Burke, Dallas Baptist doesn’t deserve in just because they know how to play the ‘RPI Game”. They were a non-factor in a mediocre conference and should not be rewarded because they know how to schedule P5 teams in irrelevant midweek and early season games.

If you knock out Rutgers and DBU, the that would get Rebels in.

Kentucky 1 early season loss to WKU cripples them in RPI. Toppers are #222 in RPI. And the loss to #124 Ohio 8 days later didn’t help.

Alabama has even worse losses to #288 UNA and #261 UTM. The series win vs. Arkansas does not cancel out series losses to woeful Miss St and South Carolina

I don’t think it really going to matter who we play. We just won an Sec tournament with our fifth best starter on the hill. We also had 5 balls we hit yesterday that would have been way out at LNS. Bring them all on .

So are the realistic #16 seeds Georgia Southern, Auburn, Florida, and Oklahoma State? I am just taking the teams I feel most confident in being placed at 16. My question to you all, is who out of the realistic #16 seeds do you think is the best draw? I’m leaning Georgia Southern.

My money would be on Georgia Southern as 16

How good are D1 64 projections? Are they close to actual?

I am no Kentucky fan in anything, but they were by far the strongest team down the stretch in the SEC (besides us, of course) They were the only team which really put up a fight against us. They deserve to be in there - early RPI horrors shouldn't eliminate them.

Vandy will go to Louisville and Georgia to the GSU regional, right?
Surely we don’t get another SEC squad as our 2 seed??!!
GBO!!
I think they try to separate conference teams in regionals and usually only will have them matchup in the super regionals.

Imo this is how they should do it for regionals:

#1 seed gets #32, #48, and #64
#2 seed gets #31, #47, and #63
#3 seed gets #30, #46, and #62
And so on…

The higher seeds should always be rewarded with the worst remaining 2-4 seeds.

They have no respect for the game.

Belittled by Preseason Poll, Razorbacks' 2022 Starting Lineup Will Still Pack Big-Time Talent - Best of Arkansas Sports

Their whine started early. I enjoy and appreciate the game, especially when played well and we get to see great play every season in the SEC. But the more vocal piggy fans with their nonsense about the Vols disrespecting the game, juiced bats, peds, etc. made me dislike their entire fanbase even knowing that only a handful were beings idiots.

Yep, there are AQs in that KY would easily handle. Cats fans should be happy with their teams tourney performance.

So much good info to read through. I don’t like to start threads. Can we get a thread that has the latest in important times and dates like the time of the selection committee today and network? Also would like a thread providing some background and interesting facts about players and coaches similar to the recruiting threads. Sounds like we will be playing Friday through Sunday this coming weekend. Thx! Can’t tell you how much I appreciate VN Baseball Forum folks! Y’all have made 2022 extra special. VFFL. VOL FRIENDS FOR LIFE!

Selection show will be today at 12:00 PM EST on ESPN 2.

I think Georgia Southern will be 16th, which would be an excellent draw for us. They’re a solid ball club, and they are playing better than they were when we swept them, but I’m not the least bit worried about them.
