Reintegrating Tillman

JH is all about finding mismatches and making sure the best players are on the field, so why not both on the field at the same time along with BRU. That trio will stretch every defense thin!

Let me put on my flame proof suit.

I think our offense has been better without Tillman.

Against Pitt we forced the ball to him at times and he had some unfortunate drops.

Not having a clear cut #1 WR (Hyatt and McCoy would be #1 on most teams still) has forced the coaches and Hooker to spread the ball around.

We are better with him, but we have to adjust from how we were using him.

Keyton has to continue to see the field some after Tillman comes back as well. He’s been great and has the best catch range on the team.

Honestly, looking forward to when Tillman gets back… 4 Wide… Tillman, Hyatt, McCoy & Keyton… no double coverage…

Won’t be an issue at all. You want the best talent on the field. Just keep running the same offense and don’t force it to him. Whoever is open is getting the ball.
I think you just said it the best....the future is exciting with all that talent on the field.

Find a way for 4-receiver sets, if at all possible. This would be a nightmare for any defense.

Get help. Keyton has done well. I’d love for him to return next year. The offense was gonna improve from game 2-3 to now regardless. Tillman is a special player.

The WR group is as deep as I can remember. I think they feed off of each other and DCO have to make a choice. Pick your poison so to speak.

JH won’t go 4 wide very often, nor should he. Rotating guys and keeping them fresh is a nightmare for opposing defenses. Keyton coming off the bench and running a deep post after Hyatt has been burning them or McCoy and Tillman have been physical with them is SO hard to defend.

I think it will end up being a blessing for the reasons you say. HH has been forced to look at other guys and when Tillman returns, HH won't be forcing it to him. I think Keyton has been stellar (and, since he has a Covid year, will be back next year as an experienced asset). But he doesn't have the best catch radius on the team. Tillman does. Keyton failed to track a couple of deep balls against Bama that Tillman halls in, both for TDs. The thing about Keyton that has impressed me most is his ability after the catch. He makes guys miss.

Keyton IS really good at laying out for them though :p

Old saying< "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger". I believe the Vols are playing their best ball right now.
Just need to be wary of turnovers. They can kill you. Take care of the ball. I would think KY will be trying to jerk the ball away every play for them to have a chance.

exactly. people are acting like there is only one wr on the field at a time...
This!! We are not talking QB or RB…the Vols can have Tillman,Hyatt,Bru, and Keyton on the field at the same time which I can’t wait to see!

Literally can stack 3 on one side and pick your poison as to who you want on the other side. As good as this offense has been it’s crazy to think that it can be even better when CT (FYI projected 1st round draft pick!!!) returns.
It really is gonna make a lot of D coordinators think twice before blitzing not to mention the effect it is gonna have on UT and the running game.

Once per game I’d like to see this:
Milton in at QB…takes extra long deep snap.
5 wideouts, Tillman, Hyatt, McCoy, Keyton, Squirrel all sprint to end zone
Milton heaves from 40-60 yard bomb to end zone.

I don’t think Hendon is in sync with Ramel like he is with Ced. Look at the long overthrow for the TD in the 3rd quarter vs Bama. Ramel was running down the sideline wide open and Hooker overthrew him on another play. Hendon was motioning him to keep running. They made some great plays during the game don’t get me wrong. I just think the chemistry between Hendon and Ced would have produced another big play or 2.

Hyatt is a slot reciever man, he gets more open looks bc of the guys on the outside, and vice versa.. Hyatt only had 6 caught passes in the Alabama game, he will still get that and maybe more when Tillman comes back. If you’re saying not playing tillman is the right answer then I have to strongly disagree my friend, he’s an upgrade of everyone on the outside. You still get Tillman 8 touches a game atleast he’s that good.
This is a good problem to have mind you but don’t get it twisted, tillman is our most complete reciever.

I trust the staff to use personnel to our advantage. I doubt they will forget what Hyatt is capable of.

It's plug and play with the WR core right now. I say whomever is torching the dbs is going to be getting the most yards. We spread it around a lot but I think Hooker has got a great knowledge of the system and defenses so he is making them pay.

As most on here have said, this could be what took our offense to a new level.

At the beginning of the season, we had Tillman and a WR group we all said needed to step up to see who else could perform and take some of the pressure off Tillman.

At the beginning of the season, you could see HH thinking the same thing as he would go to Tillman because of the trust factor he had with him and no one else.

Fast forward, and now HH has developed chemistry with Hyat and McCoy for two, but also seeing Keyton getting ball as well…so the injury has forced the QB-WR group to develop more chemistry and trust.

Now, we throw Tillman back into the mix, and we have HH with trust 4-wide in his WR group. This just makes us more potent an offense than we ever were before.

Play Tillman first half with HH to develop some timing and chemistry that may be a bit rusty, then starters rest across the board and let’s see how Milton and Jackson do.

Found it interesting that Tillman was a two or three star prospect according to his rankings out of high school. 247 composite had him as #1677 overall prospect and 246 best wide receiver in the country. He played at a powerhouse high school so it is not like he wasn't seen by anyone (Bishop Gorman las Vegas) Besides Tn he was considering UNLV and Weber State.

Our stable of WRs next year will probably be the best we have ever had, even if Kenton decides to come back. The only problem would be if none of our QBs can not quickly read the defense and get the ball to the open receivers However, I don’t think will be a problem.

Tillman can't take the top off like Hyatt. Safety rolls to Hyatt's side and Tillman gets single coverage. Then there is Bru. And Keyton. It doesn't stop. We are more talented at WR than any other team in the country is in their secondary.

When Sean Payton was with the Saints he would very often go to a 5 WR set.
He would run that a few times and get the ball downfield only to turn around a bust out with the RB and rip a huge run.
If you can run it effectively and catch the D off guard it's unstoppable.

If Hyatt continues to show off (I don’t expect 5 TDs again thou) he’ll most likely have to declare. Tillman’s injury this year will be in back of his mind.
