These are the players left on our board. There could possibly be 1 or 2 that come out of nowhere but these are the main names:

WR
-Dwight Jones 5* 6-5/210/- Burlington, NC
Still claims to be committed to UNC but says that UNC, UT, and Clemson are tied. He plans to visit Bama as well, but I doubt anything comes of that. I think we land him if he doesn't reaffirm his commitment to UNC this weekend. Fulmer still has an in-home.
-Ahmad Paige 4* 6-3/175/4.4 Sterlington, LA
Has a final 3 of UF, UT, and USC but, again, may visit Bama. I don't get the feeling that we are sitting too well with Paige. I think UF lands in the end.

DE
-Rae Sykes 4* 6-4/240/4.7 Alcoa, TN
Major grade issues and other potential problems have us cooling on this local talent. It will come down to UT and FSU. He has a visit with UT on 2/2 but inevitably is sign and place.

DT
-Marvin Austin 5* 6-2/291/4.68 Washington, D.C.
This is as weird a recruitment as you will find right here. Almost everyone thinks FSU with him though he claims FSU and UNC are tied with UT, USC, and Maryland behind. He says he may shock everyone with his pick and some sources say he is UT bound.

To run like Brooks does at his size it is surprising to see him not get more attention. Has anyone seen tape on him? Whats the deal?

I'd say the coaches see him as a tweener. I have no idea. Rob said that we aren't pushing because we see him as a marginal prospect and that we could probably wait 2 weeks before we decide to push and still land him.

Yeah, no true position. I can see that. But, I just feel like any kid that is 245 lbs and runs a 4.5-4.6 range can find a place on the field. Shoot he sounds like he has the makings of a good DE or FB. I know he says he really wants to play RB and maybe we dont think he will make the transition to a different position with a happy heart.

tfpOnline's report on the weekend's visitor's...
Tennessee's biggest football recruiting weekend of January ended with a firm commitment from one prospect, but little movement regarding other targets.
William Brimfield, a 6-foot-5, 285-pound defensive tackle from Neeses, S.C., committed to UT during his visit. Brimfield is the No. 35 tackle in the country, according to Rivals.com. He committed to North Carolina last summer, but changed his mind when former Tar Heels coach John Bunting was fired midway through the season. Brimfield becomes the third tackle in a 2007 Volunteers class that sorely needed help on the defensive front.
Tennessee's weekend ended, however, without a visit from prized blue-chip defensive end Carlos Dunlap. The nation's seventh-best recruit cancelled his visit and cut UT from a list that now includes only Florida and South Carolina. Norman, Okla., cornerback Ryan Broyles also didn't make the trip as planned, and wound up committing to Oklahoma State.
Dwight Jones, the nation's top-rated receiver, visited UT this weekend but remains committed to North Carolina. Junior college defensive back Nevin McKenzie visited but did not pledge to UT, as was hoped when the Vols lost starting safety Demetrice Morley to academics late last week.
The Vols now have 27 commitments and appear to have placed several interested recruits on hold since only a few spots remain.

We weren't pushing for him. Arky and OK St WERE the only 2. OU has offered now and has a good chance of landing him.

Yeah, I thought UT would get him if they wanted him. That is why I pegged him as my sleeper a little while ago. Apparently, UT didnt really feel like they needed him.

Another one bites the dust....Tarence Farmer eliminated the Vols today. The weird thing is that he said he really liked us but our coaches informed him that we are full. That either means that the coaches know something(silents) that we don't or that we are only taking certain players at this point.

ok first post...

what are our chances of landing Devonte Campbell because a good TE is something we havent landed in this class...and also i have read that we lead for Travaris Cadet...are we pursuing him? im sceptical how hard were going after him since he has had us in the lead for awhile but hasnt committed...

1. I doubt we have room for Devonte. He is a little short for TE and next year will be the year we need a TE or two(and already have one of the top in the country committed)

2. He is a fallback guy. If we strike out with most of the remaining players on our board or get any decommits at WR/DB/ATH, we may take him.

"Coach Troop (Taylor) and coach Fulmer are my boys," Paige said. "Of all the places I have visited, I felt most comfortable at Tennessee because they have the best people. They are all great people to be around."

That is a quote from the most recent article about Ahmad Paige. Sounds promising.

If they both say yes then you cant imagine any way we turn one of them down. If they find out the other one is commiting would they both still commit? That is another interesting question. I really believe we have a better shot at Paige than anybody else. Just call it a hunch. Similar to the Ben Martin-hunch.

I don't know about Paige. He said playing time is a big deal and we have quite a class of WRs coming in so he may be scared off. I think it would be hard to take both because we would have 6 WR commits even if Maples moves to S. Maybe we take them both if we miss on Moore and all the safeties.

Paige said the departure of Meachem really helped because of his desire for early playing time. So, it all depends on how much he fears from other players coming in this class. He might just be happy that there are no established upper classman at WR and that might be good enough. I'm not sure.

I would rather have Dwight Jones. I am not as impressed by Paige as some other people.

Chris Perry you mean? He committed to Nebraska. Burnett committed to GT but is considering visiting UT and Bama.
