Remaining DTs on the board

Does anybody "in the know" know if the staff is looking to add a late DT and OL?

It would ease my soul to know that they are definitely beating the bushes for them, and not content to back count 2 next year. I think we want those two scholarships occupied and bodies on campus now.

We need one of these DTs BAD!!

Who else is on the roster at DT other than Hughes and Walls? Are Chase Nelson and Victor Thomas still on the team? Either way we need bodies at DT!

I also would like us to get at least one more DT, however ...

Yes, Hughes, Walls are there, and Sykes from Alcoa. Jeffreys was redshirted coming off knee injury (so we are just now about to see what he can do) Chase Nelson still there (time to "root hog, or die" for him) and if John Brown has academics in order, he should make a difference. Several ifs and buts here, but it could work out.

You have to wonder why two staffs have passed on Glass though. Just taking someone because we can isn't helping us any. We need those that can contribute or to save that scholarship for a better player next year. Glass is at best a project that will not be ready for a while. You may be able to get a better prospect next year that could contribute immediately.

Yes. Having a body to put out there is not the question. If your backups are players that aren't sec quality, then leave the dog tired and gassed first stringer out there. If they can't play, don't sign them. Do you realize how many 6ft + and approx 300 lb guys are out there. Alot. Cdd knows his butt is on the line and he knows where we are on d tackles, if the coaches think these guys can play they will take them. Obviously they see something in crump and took him, so it's not like they won't look and take a low rated player who can play. Dimentional numbers alone- hgt & wgt. Mean virtually nothing. Saying we should take a kid by looking at his size is just wrong.

The staff has obviously looked at glass and determined they don't want him with the class we have. So I don't see why anyone would want us to take him.

Don't have to have cousin who is secretary or something to know they are doing anything they can to come up with one... I can answer that one for you. Plus cdd said the pressed that they were still open to adding players.

Is Glass's 40 time correct at 5.8s. Thats slow even for a lineman in the SEC.

IMO, you can't really apply a 40 to an OL. It's more about how quick his footwork is and how quick his first step(which would fall under footwork) is. Rarely is a lineman going to have to run a long distance anyways.

I wouldn't mind signing two of these guys if grades are in order:

Justin Niutapuai, 6'0"/300/***
Venson Joness, 6'2"/326/**
Wayne Carter, 6'0"/317/**

If we're switching to a 3-4 then we need a huge body to play NT. Still if we play in the 4-3 I would love to have two big guys clog up the middle.

cdd said we are running a 40 base defense. I've got a cousin who has those dimensions also..... And he is the worst athlete I've ever seen. Only person he can tackle is himself. Knowing size alone doesn't tell you much. Especially if the recruiting services have seen them and don't rate them very high. Don't waste a scholarship that could be used next year when. Cdd and company have full year to recruit.

Churphy Steward, 6'2"/278/*** (Has an offer from LaTech)

If he has an offer from Louisiana Tech, you know who probably made the offer.

Either Dooley doesn't think he's good enough for the SEC, or he's not going to mess with a kid he recruited for his old school (unlike some coaches we know).

Probably not even worth thinking about.

He was recruiting clark for Ltech... BUT clark had not committed to anyone (that is a big difference).

While i enjoy the discussions here on the board. I don't think the ole brain trust here is going to come up with the answer on this one.

Wait a minute, now... just because we haven't solved the DT problem in over three years doesn't mean we won't eventually crack this one.

We need DTs in a bad way, we just need some bodies...

6-11' 395.

I don't know how well this kid plays, but, man, he'd be an awesome pick for the coin toss.

For real. I mean, if we're just going by size, Mount Cody looks like a mowhill compared to this kid.

How is he not rated? If it's my job to rate players, I make the trip to see this guy. He must have all customer gear.
