Remaining Prospects left (Recruiting Finish Summary Thread)

Warrior is a vol. Why else would he bring his cousin #1 2017 recruit Gibbs to such an import visit? Warrior is a vol, kongbo, and Byrd, and maybe a 4th but I don't know who that 4th may be. Hopefully Brown.

I agree. It's not a stretch to think that this weekend all about recruiting to him. Recruiting other guys to UT. Bringing along Gibbs, rumours of him being a silent, and an 8am NSD announcement to get the ball rolling all support this.

Or, maybe I'm wrong.

I disagree with that. We might not have great coaches at all job positions but we do have what I consider a great head coach. Even with a great head coach we still need to be in the top 10 recruiting classes every single year to make it back to the top.

That's never going to be easy when we have to compete in the recruiting war against the likes of BAMA, Florida, Ole Miss, LSU, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas A&M every single year.

Those are the main schools because of their SEC counterpart to us. We also have to add all 5 power conference schools to the mix so it's not easy task to get the top talent every year but we've made progress since Butch got here.

It's just this year it seems we're a little behind from past years with Butch but on NSD we can make a move like we have in the past. I say we might end up being a top 10 but it will be cutting it close. I'm going to predict around 11-13 in final class rankings but I hope we go higher.
I don't think a great head coach would have lost to some of the worst UF teams we're likely to ever see again the past couple of years, or James Franklin in 2012, or Derek Dooley in 2011. That said, Jones has managed in three years to get us from our program's historic all time low point back to about where Fulmer had us when much of the fan base was calling for his firing, and he did it at a time when it seems like a lot of other coaches have somehow created much more instant turnarounds at their own institutions. It'll be interesting to see what kind of success Muschamp and Smartt have this year both in recruiting and on the field and maybe that will give us a better idea of the relative merit of the brick laying approach. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather win 8-9 games a year than 5, but if 8 was enough then there was no reason to jettison Fulmer. I need to see Jones break through and get this team in the playoff before I'm going to really buy in and it looks like this year is probably going to be his best shot to get it done anytime soon.

I'm probably suffering from a bit of battered fan syndrome, but I'm having bad feelings about signing day this year. I'm seeing shades of Fulmer's famous statement about kids lying to him with a look of bewilderment spread across his face.

It's time for Jones to close the deal.

Posts like this just make me shake my head in wonder. Fulmer lost to Florida with regularity. I agree that we should have won at least one of the last two v UF but that is not the sole measurement of the state of the program. I honestly believe that posters like this really don't realize how far our program had deteriorated under the last years of Fulmer through Dooley. The current staff had to not only make a huge upgrade in talent and speed but had to create an entirely new culture of work and winning. I don't know if Butch will be the long term solution for UT, but he's absolutely been the right guy to this point.

You are correct sir...and Hurd and Dobbs are transferring as well; Sutton is going to the CFL and Maybin has decided to graduate early and practice law in the Dooley firm. Hart is refusing to fix the field and Bama has cancelled our home and home until he does. Rocky Top will no longer be our fight song and purple and green will be our new team colors..but Butch has said he will build it all back...you guessed it brick by brick! GBO:peace2:

Yes, I'm obsessing over our recruiting finish.
Have scoured every web site of ours and others.
Here's where I see our 5 biggest targets.

Warrior - Vol silent
Byrd - Vol flip from Miami
Brown - nobody knows - Auburn, UT, UGA
Kongbo - lots of optimism but still - UT, FSU, Bama, Ole Miss
Dickerson - FSU lean, UT, Bama, Aub still alive.

Does this seem where we are now to you, recruitniks?

Eric,
Why did you pull UGA from Brown?
I live in Georgia and folks here, including Buck Belue, have never waivered that he's going to Athens.
Some here say he's been a silent to UGA for a long time and that he's just messing with us and Auburn.

I loathe UGA.
So, I hope ur right.
If we don't get Brown, I'd rather him be at Auburn where we don't have to play him every year.

People like this I can understand to a point brother. While his post is negavol in nature, the tone is from the heart of a triue vol fan, at least that is what I see.

It's through the eyes of a fan who has endured ten plus years of turmoil and losing.

Hopefully, by the end of next year, he will be on board of the bUTch train. I'm on board until proven otherwise! The glass is half full for me right now! GO VOLS!

Nigel is coming to UT. Take a look at his latest periscope take. He said we has a Vol. Brown is going to Georgia it appears along with Hardman. That's 2 we were after pretty heavily so we lost out on those two.

....and Auburn is trending down like nobody's business. They could really be looking for new head coach after this coming year. Brown could step in and get some immediate playing time for the Vols. It would be quite a rotation!

"I didn't sit down and meet with him at all but he did give me some advice," Dickerson said. "He said if there was any legit possibility that they have a chance I need to be in constant contact with him the next few days."

The Dickerson quote above is a reference to Coach Jones, I presume? Why would he not have an office sit-down with the kid? Seems kind of strange.

Let me start by saying have zero sources and I like 99.9 % have no clue as to were these kids are going. I have followed recruiting since WLAC days with Bill King , Bob Bell and Alabama homer Forrest Davis. That being said I am going to throw my 2 cents in. Remember I am just guessing.

Warrior- Vol
Bryd- Miami ( Think he likes Vols but he will stick with Canes)
Brown - Vols( just a hunch)
Kongbo - USCw
Dickerson - Vols ( The surprise) may have done been a silent .
