First of all, thanks Eric for doing the work and getting this ball rollin'. I liked the analogy from the poster who likened this last weekend's group to two grand slams (all 5), a grand slam (4), a home run (3), and a triple (2). Lord knows there may be some curve balls before its a wrap...Here's hoping it is epic! We'll feel bulletproof!! GBO!!

This concerns me, I fully trust Butch but do any of our "insiders" have reasoning as to why Butch wouldn't have a face to face with this young man? I was actually thinking over the weekend it'd be incredible for butch to take our remaining top 5 "wants" into a room together and just lay the cards on the table with a little. "Gentlemen, look around you 5 could be the final pieces to a 4 yr recruiting plan you've seen us put into action these last few years that will allow us to compete for the College Football Playoff." I know they already know this but seriously set these men down and let them realize the importance of this close and this class to the potential we now have on our roster and competition!

my thought is this...he's big on "fit", and the way this kid's recruitment has gone, i'm not 100% certain CBJ is willing to do any more than he has. it's the law of diminishing returns.

he wants kids that want to be here. and by all accounts, there's 3-4 of those kids that visited this weekend that seem to fit that bill, and they could tip this class toward a top 12 ranking.

i think, while it may not result in securing LD's signature, it's important to maintain your culture and identity and not shortchange the other recruits'. basically, you have to create an environment that attracts these recruits, understanding it's not for everybody.

it's almost more important to weed those guys out before they get here, than it is to just land a guy just because of his star rating.

Since I started this thread I've thought 3 of the big 5 and 1 more of the lower ones.

I still feel that way.

Kongbo
and depending on what coaches think is their biggest need Bailey or Moss

When I first read the quote from Dickerson, I thought the same. However, I think that CBJ, DeBord, and CDM have repeatedly made their case to Dickerson for becoming a Vol. At some point, it is up to him to "want" to be a Vol. As Kerbyson said many times, being a Vol is special and something he loved.

I think we finish with one of the DTs on our board. If not Brown, then either Daniels or Clark. If don't get Kongbo, then Bailey would probably the DE of choice. Wednesday will be an interesting day.

Certainly realistic when you are one of final two teams left for a player.

Just don't like the VQ vibe about the Rodney Garner factor they've mentioned. Makes me think his/his parents relationship with him will be too much to beat. Probably doesn't hurt that I've seen that movie 3 or 4 times now so my confidence in that matchup is low.

Like you, I have zero sources but have closely followed recruiting for many years. Just reading the tea leaves, I think we finish with Brown, Warrior, Byrd, and Kongbo. I've been saying we would finish strong for weeks and I'm sticking to it. I would guess Dickerson goes to FSU (more likely) or Bama (less likely). We'll find out soon enough.

Tennessee just makes way too much sense for Dickerson based on projected major, outdoor interests and proximity to home. Still, I don't get a good feeling with the way it's playing out publicly unless he is a silent commitment. Same for Brown with UGA.

Warrior, Byrd, Kongbo and outside chance for one of the guys above.

Nobody knows about Brown. He wants his NSD hat day, and he's keeping people guessing. UGA thinks it's UGA or UA; UA thinks it's UA or UT; UT thinks it's UT or UA. MSU thinks they're in it.

I think Brown loves UT and would like to play here... but he also likes AU and has built a strong relationship with Rodney Garner. We've been here before.
