Remaining Targets (discussion welcome)

Abernathy and Swafford count against the 85...not the class...Justin King just left...so that spot along with Drae Bowles...takes care of those two...you should know...they have to do it this way at Vandy also.

When did King leave? I must have missed that.

I've learned not to care about numbers and just let Butch do this thing. I think we finish with Jones, Newsome, Sapp, Love, and 1 of Allen/St. Louis.

It is my understanding that Abernathy and Swafford will be initial counters and will count against the 25 number. Could be wrong.

there is no doubt Swafford has to count. If Abernathy doesn't go on scholarship he will not count.

This is my understanding. RDAIV and Swafford do not count against the 28-30 we take. This leaves us with three available spots, unless someone decommits.

NCAA makes a transfer who do not sit out a year for transfer become initial counters for the year they enter if they are put on scholarship, just like we had to do with Malik Jackson. Now if he doesn't go on scholarship, he would not be a counter. If he does, he will.

A walk-on who is given a scholarship during their first two years on a roster have to be an initial counter also. He couldn't count on last year's class because it was full so he has to go on the 2015 class.

There has been talk that there was a blue shirt from the 2014 recruiting effort so that would be another counter for 2015.

These will be added to whatever recruits enroll on scholarship this month and in August. If that is 23 or 25 or 28 or 32, these 3 will add in also.

Thought I'd put together a list of targets that A) seem to be interested in becoming Vols and B) we seem to be interested in signing.

This is sort of like the targets/commits thread, but gives a place where serious targets are listed and can be discussed in one thread (seems like stickied threads don't get much discussion).

Here is my personal assessment (small chance, 50/50 chance, or strong chance) of where I personally think we stand.

No doubt there will be names added and subtracted from this list as we get closer to NSD. I'll keep the thread updated if there is interest.

Discussion and debate welcome :hi:

Thanks for clarifying this. There has been a lot of discussion and nobody was 100% sure about the initial counters. Space is definitely at a premium.

I'm curious why everybody feels confident about Love. He's a high GPA kid and academics are a priority, so that would seem to give Stanford a slight edge... unless he wants to stay closer to home. I'd give us a 50/50 shot here, but most of you feel differently?

Did some updating to the OP.

SIAP, who are Coach Z, Butch Stones, and the other coaches jet setting to visit today and tomorrow? Seeing the pictures of jet flying limousine riding and wondering who they are chasing.

I think they are getting started on 16' prospects. I'd check out some of the 16' prospects near the top of the page to find out for sure.

So how do we finish?
Now with Marques gone-
23 or 24 spots due to last year -
1,2,3,4 maybe even Camion can be not counted on this group if blueshirted.
How many are left? We still have 27 verbals.
is Boulware firm, has PW shut down visits, sounds like Kelly is one - are there any more spots?
Is Sapp one? Is Allen one?
Anyone else asked to look around?

Is Shutack being considered at this point? He is coming in on an official the weekend of the 30th.
