Rep Massie posts gun photo

Okay.
What if he purchases 10, resells 7 legally, and 3 illegally? 30% straw? Kind of straw? mini-straw? What's the point in the semantics?
It really depends on the state. In TX it's okay because of rednecks, but in Cali it's okay if the offenders are POC and also straws are outlawed in Cali so no crime unless an actual straw was used that could injure a sea turtle.

A little sensitivity to what is going on in the world goes a long way.

Car makers should be more sensitive to the folks who just had family members run over at a Christmas parade with their commercials showing SUVs as appropriate Christmas gifts.

Imagine the horror of seeing folks in images celebrating the gift of a SUV while the media is consistently telling you a SUV killed and injured your loved ones.

Sam wishes to make some money by illegally selling guns. He goes in and buys a bunch of guns by swearing he is not going to sell them illegally. He then goes and sells them illegally.

What am I missing?

From my earlier link:

After Virginia introduced its one-gun-a-month law, there was a significant reduction in the number of crime guns recovered outside the state and traced back to Virginia dealers.7

But you haven't tied that back to the winking straw purchases you've described

Sam is also a felon for a few thousand bucks. Unlikely your laws would stop him anyways

During the first eight months after the long gun reporting requirement went into effect for four states bordering Mexico, ATF used those reports to initiate 120 investigations and recommended prosecution of more than 100 defendants in 25 separate cases.16

That's only handguns. And there is no law requiring any follow up on the report.

There shouldn't be follow up. It points the incompetence of our government and your lunacy. There is already a mechanism in place to catch straw buyers that is rarely used and you want an already incompetent government to institute more controls.

It's pretty simple. Eliminate multiple sales.

Although the majority of trafficking investigations involve straw purchases, corrupt retail gun dealers account for a higher volume of guns diverted into the illegal market than any other single trafficking channel. 13

So, your new laws are going to be followed? Are they super cereal this time?

You're persecuting the wrong group

Bulk Gun Purchases | Giffords
Regulating bulk firearm purchases is a straightforward, effective way to reduce gun trafficking and save lives.

Laws limiting the number of firearms a person can purchase within a certain timeframe help reduce the number of guns that enter the secondary market—weapons that are more likely to wind up at the scene of a crime. Only a handful of states limit bulk gun purchases, a policy that has been proven to reduce gun trafficking and consequently gun violence.

You are about to answer your own question.

ps Wise of you to drop the Australian suicide nonsense

Federal Firearms Form 4473 and Form 3310.4 would like a word with you.

So do you believe a person should be able to buy 100 handguns at a time with no reporting?

Walking you into another of your many absurd extensions. But I love your consistency.

As many as a person can afford.

They are only a criminal if they are doing something illegal.
Why should it be illegal for them to sell a gun to whomever they please?

It shouldn't but it is so go catch the criminals and leave the law abiding alone.
