Yes, we all believe in that. We all believe in exactly the same thing.

Booker and Gillibrand both support the guaranteed jobs idea. They are both in the mix for 2020 candidates. It’s highly possible you will in fact be believing this in a couple years.

I would support a jobs retraining program that helps those who want employment train in areas of need kind get the training they require to start out. Kind of like a vocational rehab program.

However, just setting up yet another government agency that just adds more bureaucracy into the mix and does little more than help "muh feels" isn't going to work.

You don't think your party is going further and further left? You may not necessarily believe in those things, but it will be the party of Bernie Sanders and his socialists minions soon. They've all but telegraphed it.

They have to push further and further left. There is no room for being center. Society has changed and the only hope for democrats is to be able to be as crazy as their most ardent supporters.

Democrats 2020 Platform will consist of this:

Free money for everyone (unless you're a White heterosexual male)
Tranny Bathrooms e'rwhere
Felons are people too
Police are terrible until I need them
You shouldn't have that much
You should't have that
You shouldn't be able to do that
Freedom of speech is great unless it makes me mad then it must be censored
Will fix mythical wage gap
Diversity is our strength (emotions)
Emotions over logic
Wall Street evil
Corporations evil
Working evil
Christians evil
Muslims good
Capitulation GREAT
Capitalism bad and evil
Knee pads for everyone
White people bad
Old people bad
Old White people bad
Men bad
White men bad
Old White men bad

Their slogan? Feel First, Think Never.

There’s no way anyone will run with reparations seriously being a policy platform.

I’m not sure why guaranteed jobs is being vilified.

Bloated government filled with useless workers getting more bloated and increasing its useless worker pool.

My experience in federal service makes me believe that at least 60% of each agencies workforce is utterly useless.

Seconded.

Equals yet another bureaucracy that becomes bloated, runs over budget at taxpayer expense and adds to the already $21 Trillion in debt. There's no organic growth to sustain such a thing. It must always come from tax payers for it to continue once started. Just another form of transfer payments/income redistribution.

How many people under 40 do you know that vote left? They all believe this sh!t.

Young democrats are modern communists, albeit a much more wimpy, goofy, and stupid version..but commies nonetheless.

Not that many. A few. Their views vary.

I would agree that younger Dems tend to be absolutist and idealistic. They adhere too much to unrealistic policies about wealth redistribution.

But that is mostly a consequence of being young. Young GOPers are idealistic and absolutist in the other direction.

It takes life experience to understand that wise political choices are made a la carte, not prix fixe. You find who you are aligned to, but you don't sign up for the whole thing.

I haven't heard much about this plan, but at first blush it sounds like putting people to work who would otherwise be getting welfare.

Good thing, no? I have always been for workfare and I thought most conservatives were as well.

The stupidity of the average republican on display here.

One that caught my eye "felons are people too" If you are speaking of voting rights, give me one rational connection between the permanent loss of voting rights and a felony conviction. Why should they be prohibited from voting?

The overwhelming question will be "who's going to pay for this?"

I'm all about retraining as I mentioned and assisting those who want employment to gain employment.

If it's a government feel good program where they are being paid by the government for "feel good" projects, I'm not sure if that's the answer.

Running for office with a pie in the sky theory that no one, not even them, actually thinks is doable?

No.

Way.

Besides, if they make the mistake of proposing programs to a base that is already going to vote for them anyway, they deserve what they get, which would be to lose.

Not really. No more so than the GOP went through a phase of going to far right during the Obama years.

But that was largely about motivating people and raising money. When it comes time to govern, everyone has to compromise. Even they understand that.

I agree with you.

However, there is no reason why this has to be done by government at all, really. I mean, if the demand was there for more air conditioning techs, then air conditioning schools would open.

Our problem is that there is a lot more stagnation in our economy caused by lack of demand than people account for. All of these economic approaches built on short term shots to the arm for stock buy backs, or corporate tax relief, etc., aren't addressing the long term problem in this economy, for the past 20 years.

The middle class does not have the kind of money it takes to buy us back into prosperity, on the whole.
