Republican Nomination for President

Who would you vote for to run for President from the Republican Party?

I like Ron Paul, and I've interviewed him in College, but he would get little done. Much like Grover Cleveland, he is just to radical for what is in congress today. Some should do a poll for Romney or Obama...

I think I have that interview on YouTube if you want to see it... I think...

That's kinda the point. We don't want anything done. "Doing stuff" got us into this mess. Ron Paul would issue an executive order to disregard all prior executive orders, and then he would veto the **** out of everything that came across his desk. Even if he doesn't repeal anything, we're still much better off than with Romney and Obama spending us into oblivion, and signing virtually every bill that makes it to the oval office.

I would say RP is just as much of a Conservative as he is a Libertarian. Definitely not a Neocon, though.

Eh, on a national/federal level I would say he's libertarian. On a state/local government level, he is more conservative. Since he holds a national spot, I consider him libertarian.

Paul is not a GOP'er despite what he says to save face. He is a libertarian. I have no doubt that he would rather have the GOP turn toward libertarian ideals rather than having to build a party from the ground up. The GOP already has everything needed to make changes in a hurry. It makes them a convenient and efficient vehicle to drive libertarian ideals into policy implication.

His endorsement is an internal battle over whether he should sacrifice his libertarian ideals in order to continue his GOP crusade or whether to stick with his libertarian ideals and endorse Johnson.

This is/was my hope as well. I had hopes the tea party would do this, as they appeared to be mostly libertarian at first. (Not really sure what happened there). After that, I have been trying to get the more libertarian folks into position to run.

According to LG, their true KKK colors started to unravel their movement.

They got co-opted by single issue types, just like every other broad based movement before it. The citizens build it, they think a few politicians identify with them, but before they know it's happening, they become the party of those politicians, rather than the other way around.

It definitely got hijacked by social conservatives; who are mostly single issue voters like you alluded to.

My post was to your past assertions about the racism of the tea party.

Mitt Romney was greeted by Polish supporters of Texas Rep. Ron Paul as his motorcade passed through Gdansk on Monday. Volunteers from the Romney campaign struggled in vain to use umbrellas to block a large Ron Paul banner from sight, Bonney Kapp of CBS News reports.

That's some funny stuff...:eek:lol:

The big money is starting to pour in and some seem a little upset about it..

The campaign to re-elect President Barack Obama sent a distress signal Friday to potential contributors, saying they’re being outspent on the air 2-to-1 in Iowa by Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

“We expect Mitt Romney and the Republicans to outspend us,” Obama says in an email to contributors. “What I will not abide is getting outspent by a margin that negates all the hard work our volunteers are doing — talk to voters, knocking on doors, making calls.”

The email goes on to ask contributors for $3 each.

All this extra spending is not showing Romney pulling away in the polls.

Unfortunately, there has been enough "done" to us in the last 3.5 years that there is much to undo. Whether you call that doing something or not is up to you. I hope if Romney gets elected that he understands that he needs to be the undo president, not a do president, or like Nobama, the doo doo president.

Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson almost certainly can't win the presidential election this year. But his supporters claim he could determine who does.

"He's going to be a problem for somebody, somewhere," political strategist and Fox News contributor Joe Trippi wrote last month. "We don't yet know which candidate he might harm the most -- but both campaigns should be looking over their shoulders at that guy almost nobody is talking about."

that's a big problem with the Libertarian Party, the best they're ever able to hope for is playing the roll of "spoiler".

Ron Paul, running as a Libertarian, could have had a much greater impact. He certainly could have brought organization and support.

Agreed MG. I really really wished Dr. Paul would have ran as a Libertarian.
