Republican Presidential Nomination Poll Results

Note Thompson falling like a rock and Huckabee gaining and actually polling close to Romney despite the money gap.

Thompson is a disappointment. Paul seems to have more support then the polls suggest he does.

What has happened to Thompson is exactly what many predicted. He would make a splash and then sink to the bottom. I wonder if he deliberated about two or three months too long.

I was wondering how long it would be before someone saw that.

Just like all the other Neo-Cons, twisting his words, or lying completely about it.

He's not an isolationist, he just doesn't want to invade every country like the global elite that is in power now.

Neo-cons . . . global elite . . . I see you have the buzzwords down. :p

I don't really have a problem with the guy. He's got a some ideas I support, but you've got to admit that some of his support seems just a little on the fanatical side. He seems to attract the conspiracy theorists, late night radio listeners and Star Trek convention goers.

Hillary brings out the MoveOn.org crowd, the Susan Sarandan/Tom Cruise celebs, and the neo-commies (progressives). The Bush campaign brings out the Sons of the Confederacy, the TV evangelist followers and "big oil interests"... :ermm:

You could go down through any campaign and find fringe elements supporting all of them. There are no more fringe elements in the Paul campaign than in any other, it is just that the mainstream conservatives and media choose to highlight the few kooks there may be because they want to keep Paul out of the debates and be a non-factor in the primaries.

...but even in your own response you reference a conspiracy by "mainstream conservatives". Why do buzzwords and conspiracy theories follow this guy?

IMO, the Reps. are playing for 2nd place in 08 anyway.

I really agree in a way. I also think that Ron Paul is the only one that could beat Hillary.

Liberals see that Hillary is more pro-war than she lets on.

Conservatives will not vote for a pro-war, or pro-abortion candidate. They will vote for Paul. Republicans that are pro-war/neo-cons, will vote for anyone the Republican party puts up. Liberals that like guys like Kuccinich, that they believe will get out of Iraq, will also vote against Hillary if Paul is the candidate.

I'm a conservative/libertarian and I would vote for Giulani before I'd vote for Ron Paul. I have my disagreements with Rudy and my concerns about his past, but I refuse to vote for somebody David Duke considers "his king".

The race is still wide open.

It only takes 1-2 months for someone's stock to fall off a cliff

Hillary actually is NOT the one attracting the fringe left. Many think she is just like her husband and will triangulate towards the center. Most of the fringe goes for Obama or Edwards. Many on the far left think Hillary has sold out. Odd enough but she's seen as the moderate by the base.

A lot of the democratic base (the left edge) think Hillary is a republican!

Her big advantage is many of the dems think she has the best chance to win and are therefore backing a winner.

As far as I can tell, that "winner" hasn't yet emerged on the Rep side.

Seeing how the Religious Right is all over the map, the GOP has set itself up to potentially get a nominee they really will regret. If this anti-Mormon call in NH and IA turns out to be Mitt's people's doing, then you could see a resurgence of McCain. Mitt and Rudy could wind up killing each other leaving McCain or Huckabee as the surge candidates.

I will say the Libertarians are working on something behind the scenes in NH. This could be a move by them to cross over and influence either party's primary OR it could be their move to drop in their own candidate.

If we can't get Paul, can we at least get Tom Tancredo? The current "standings" for the Republican Party are the opposite of what I'd like to see.

It's looking prime for a Perot type to come in this time. The base of each party is not thrilled with either of their respective frontrunners. The undecided/disgruntled column grows each day and will only get larger.

Bob Novak is lowering the boom on Mike Huckabee today calling him a social conservative but a fake fiscal conservative.

After some of the things Huckabee did in Arkansas, I can understand where Novak is coming from.
