Compared to what Giuliani and Romney did previously that logic should mean an emptying of the bandwagon of those two as well. Does Novak call either of them out though?

I doubt Novak has much love for either of them either. I think the point is that some conservatives are either ignorant of Huckabee's record or are willing to sell their souls on fiscal policy just because he answers all the social questions correctly.

Are there any other alternatives to Huckabee? A true fiscal conservative and social liberal republican candidate?

Huckabee is W minus the drive to invade. He's the compassionate conservative interested in big government.

If we can't get Paul, can we at least get Tom Tancredo? The current "standings" for the Republican Party are the opposite of what I'd like to see.

Which explains why voter apathy is so high. The machine is already set for more of the same... let's not rock the boat.

Hard to believe the Republicans are on the verge of nominating a candidate who has been married 3 times. I'm surprised this has never been an issue in the campaign for the Christian right.

The Christian right is in a dilemma....mulitple marriages, "cults", flopping on moral issues...who to choose, who to choose....

The Amnesty Bill that failed earlier this year has already doomed most Republicans, why else do you think the national GOP is having trouble raising money?

They had trouble raising money LONG before that bill. THAT was just the nail in the coffin of an already dead item. We noticed the RNC and NRSC's orders from us trickling off pretty much before last November. It was one of many signs of a bad 2006 election for the GOP.

Guiliani is running away with the nomination. McCain, Thompson, Huckabee, and Romney are basicly in a dead heat for 2nd place. Very surprising. Guiliani has a lot of skeletons in his closet.

there have been numerous debates already, Guiliani has consistently stayed on top

How many primaries has he won?

Not saying you might not be right, but there's a long way to go.

Giuliani surged and flopped. Thompson surged and flopped. Romney surged and flopped. Huck is surging....and what does the trend say happens next?

Giuliani maintains the lead because of exposure in mainstream media and + inflated budget. If Huckabee keeps his current course, Giuliani will keep sinking and Huckabee takes the Repub. vote.

Do they when they find out Huck is a fiscal moderate? Looking at the fact that the same mentality as Huck is currently in the WH and we see where spending and fiscal policy has gotten us.

Giuliani and Clinton are the frontrunners. That should be more than enough to show you how big of a ditch America is in right now. I'd take Huckabee over Giuliani/Clinton if I had to. Though, even with Huckabee, it doesn't look like he will do what is needed to preserve our civil liberties. Paul is the only candidate I see who has the courage to release the grip the government has over our lives. I'll take Paul's "fringe" ideas over Tax It Huck any day of the year, though.

Luckily that Real ID Act was pushed back to Dec '09, instead of the expected May '08. Anyone get the feeling that's just a pretext for something worse to come? RFID's, anyone?

I can handle a fiscal moderate as long as he's talking FAIR Tax.

The more I hear about some of the things he did while governor of Arkansas, the less I like Mike Huckabee.

google "Wayne Dumond"

Is there just 1 on either side who's moral character is such that you'd leave your children alone with them for an afternoon? I'm waiting to see if this election too is gonna be another lesser of two evils choice, or will we get an honorable strong decent leader?
