Rest In Peace

Obviously so many to choose from, but I hadn't seen this until yesterday. Just 5 years ago. His face is what makes him my favorite. It tells it all. Even at 60 it never changed. (Expressions)

The arrangement and selective ness that he used in this one blows me away. And I know it’s not the heat seeking missle people associate w him. But I love this song

I honestly had no idea Whitey Ford was still alive until I read he had died today. He was a part of some great Yankees teams. 6 World Series titles. RIP.

Another legend lost in this ****** 2020. RIP Joe Morgan!

Joe Morgan spent 8 seasons as a member of the Cincinnati Reds and the Big Red Machine. He was an All Star in all 8 seasons. He won 2 MVPs and was a 2 time World Series Champ. His Career WAR of 100.5 ranks 4th among all 2nd Baseman to ever play MLB. He will forever be remembered as the starting 2nd baseman for undoubtedly one of the greatest lineups to ever step play.

And a really nice guy. Years ago we were at a fundraiser for one of Ronnie Lott's charities and a lot of legendary SF area athletes were there. We walked with he and his wife to the theater after the cocktail reception, and he was super nice.

Joe Morgan and Jon Miller are the best sportscasters of all-time. They used to call baseball games for ESPN. No one else comes close.

They were great. I wasn't happy when they were let go.

I lived in the DC area when Jon Miller was doing the Orioles and was a big fan. When I moved to the Bay Area I discovered he was doing Giants games and was very happy. Listened to him all the time.

When I still lived in Knoxville (pre-California), Joe and Jon did West Coast games on Sunday nights. I used to fall asleep listening.

I was mad when each were let go, but livid when Jon left. He had the best radio voice (including TV) that I ever heard.

I was really startled the first time I heard his voice in the ladies’ room at AT&T Park. 🤪

Please tell me you heard his voice because they were playing the broadcast over a speaker. Because if Jon was in there watching women pee I’m going to have to rethink my opinion of him.

Hubs said that in the early 80’s, he started a league for kids called the Joe Morgan league. Anyone could join, including girls, and everyone played. They all got a hat, and he covered all expenses.

It’s so easy to be kind. So hard to understand why more people aren’t.
Johnny Bench and Pete Rose were exactly the opposite. A friend of mine took his little league team to St Louis to watch the Reds and Cardinals. They waited outside the hotel dining room at breakfast time to get autographs after they finished breakfast. Bench and Rose brushed past the kids and said we don’t have time for you but the rest of the team stopped and signed for the kids and talked to them for a good period of time.

RIP Joe. You were one of my ones to look up to when I was a young'n.

Morgan was my favorite Red then and maybe my favorite player ever. He was definitely top on the announcer list, too. In little league, I used to do the chicken wing at bat, and I played 2B.
This is sad. Gibson, Brock, Ford, and Morgan together like this.

Rose is okay if you see him at the horse track and buy him a drink. He'll talk to you then.
