I love wayne, but he doesn't deserve his number retired. If anything Chris Lofton does before Wayne.

But man i love him and have enjoyed watching him as much as anyone else

I agree Chris Lofton should get his jersey retired before Chism does.

Allan Houston didn't get his jersey retired? Chris Lofton hasn't been out of school long enough to have his retired.

He was very good, but I wouldn't even slightly consider it.

Technically, doesn't Lofton have the qualifications to have his jersey retired???

He was 1st team All American in 2007, and SEC Player of the Year in 2007 as well.

That's two requirements, which is all you need. I think the Lofton should have his jersey retired in a few years. Chism is going to have to make a NBA and Olympic roster and then become an All Star.

Okay, I just read where Lofton never made 1st team All American, though Wikipedia said he did...anyone wanna clear that up?

Dale Ellis and Allan Houston deserve it WAYYYYYYYYYY before Wayne ever does, and I love Wayne, but his jersey should never be retired here. And Lofton also will get his in a few years.

His stats and accolades may not meet the norm for most schools but any way I look at it, I think he has to get in.

Was part of Bruce Pearl's first recruiting class and the only one to last four years.

Played in 142 games and started 119.

4 for 4 making the NCAA tournament.

Played in the Sweet 16 three times.

Played in the teams only Elite 8.

I know you're getting that from that list of requirements but what the hell does his NBA career have to do with being honored here? He is the winningest player in history and bleeds orange. I say retire Loftons next season and Wayne's down the road.

Exactly what I was thinking. Wonder why he never posts his trash on here anymore?

Wasn't his name "writer" something?. And to OrangPearl, the SCHOOLS 1st Elite8 AND won the most games of any vol. If you ask me he singlehandedly represents the turnaround this program has had, and needs to be honored in some manner. A retired jersey may not be it bc you want to keep the "bar" pretty high for that. If we can gert Verne to give the headband back, they could do something with it.

He wanted rock star status and a group of blind followers.

That or Chavis told him to just drop it and sign off the computer.

I'll go with the latter.

They should just name a section or press box after him and be done with it. No on retiring the jersey though.
