They're kinda ugly and bad mojo to boot...How about those orange shoes from that 80s Bama game?

Spoiler alert: It wasn't the helmets vs USC East that led to defeat in 2022. The Vols got outplayed in Columbia.

Spoiler alert, part 2: It won't be the helmets vs Vanderbilt this season. The Vols have the opportunity to control the narrative. Show up in Nashville fired up and ready to play. GBO!!
Also didn’t hurt South Carolina had UT’s signals from Michigan…

I wouldn’t mind seeing them again, but absolutely not for this game. Bad mojo. Pucker factor goes through the roof if they come out wearing those things…and immediately plummets if we then score on our first two drives and hold them on theirs.

Heard rumblings of the return of the orange helmet against Vandy.... Makes me nervous as hell given what happened the last time we wore them. Would love to cast out the USCe demons of the helmet but not sure this is the game to do it!

No way would I do it this week. Go stormtroopers (with black cleats) and be done with it

Triple spoiler alert Michigan gave our signs to USC Jr that year on Harbaughs cheating campaign to get an nfl gig.

I think the point to this rather than bad luck sort of thing is that the team needs to treat this as a business trip. If they are concerned about what uni is being worn their dome (pun intended) is not in the right place. The focus needs to be on the field not the threads.

One of my brother's best friends is a manager on the team. Been telling his Friend group all season they have circled this game as the game to do it.
If he was really a manager he'd know that, while they do still have all of the orange helmets from 2022 in house, they have not ordered any new ones since then. That means that many players would have to wear a different brand or style from what they normally wear, including Nico with his new post-concussion helmet. It's not happening.

With all of the extra expenses coming from revenue sharing, the days of three or four sets of helmets are probably in the past. Uniforms and gear are free from Nike. They pay full price for helmets and pads.

From who?

No really, from who? What does "rumblings" constitute? I'm online far too much, and I consume far too much Tennessee athletics news as part of that, and I've seen nothing - nada, zero, zilch - about orange helmets. Where does this stuff come? Was it some random dude at a gas station? Or some goober with a 50 viewer podcast on the internet? A random comment on CFB? Where on Earth does this nonsense come from?

Also, and I'm just throwing this out here, but, I think the last thing a coaching staff would want on the eve of such an important and impactful game would be some kind of gimmicky marketing distraction like special helmets. I think they're going to want to be all in on just winning the damn game. In my opinion. Never mind the logistics of sourcing them out of the blue. That's just nuts.

Color combinations have nothing to do with Ws and Ls.

The reason to wear traditional uniforms is they look better. Period.

Home...orange jerseys, white pants.

Away, white jersey, white pants.

White helmets with both.

No more black. It's been WAY overdone by multiple schools.

The smokey guys are OK for a couple of games a year but if we really want to be unique we should tie coons tails to the players helmets.

He$$ to the NO!

Wear the conventional Storm Troopers, stay focused, and whip their a$$.

Stay mentally focused and don’t worry about uniforms.
I don't necessarily disagree, but I highly doubt what color helmet they wear will be very high on the list of distractions for the team. Fans, maybe, but they wear the protective covers when they practice, so it really doesn't matter? If the color of the uniform/helmet causes a problem, then the problem is far worse that the uniform.

Ok so I had it backwards. If you can't see the point, I can’t help you since I don't have enough crayons to fully explain it to you.
Just remember in the golf swing, the hips fire before the hands in the downswing. Just in case you were to get it backwards.

Easy brother. Its simply a thing I was told. Take it or leave it. I am not one to break any type of news ever on here and have no history of doing so. Just a thing I was told that absolutely may be wrong. Goodness.

Sorry the point of the post keeps passing over your head.

I would be willing to bet only one of us plays golf for a living, and actually the whole left side moves together if you want to know where the ball is going.

To "fire" the hips first puts the butt of the club too far in front of you and the clubhead laid off and too far behind you at the point directional control is pure luck.
