Massachusetts lawmaker arrested on corruption charges - CNNPolitics

A Massachusetts state lawmaker was arrested by federal agents early Tuesday on dozens of corruption charges, some of which involve an alleged misuse of campaign funds, the Boston division of the FBI announced.
Massachusetts State Rep. David Nangle, a Democrat, was arrested at his home in Lowell by agents from the FBI and the Internal Revenue Service, according to a tweet on Tuesday from the Boston FBI.
Nangle, who has served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives since 1999, according to his official biography, represents a part of the state about 40 minutes northwest of Boston. He sits on both the House Committee on Ethics and the House Committee on Rules, as well as the Joint Committee on Rules.

charges of bank fraud, wire fraud, filing false tax returns and lying to a bank.

I hope the charges are not true for this guy....but, if so, he can kiss his own stupid ass good-bye.

Some have been in the works for awhile, but the timing of these two, including a Dem, is ..... interesting.

"President Donald Trump signed an executive order Tuesday granting a full pardon to Edward DeBartolo Jr., the former owner of the San Francisco 49ers who pleaded guilty to a felony charge for his involvement in a gambling fraud case in Louisiana in the late 1990s, according to White House spokesman Hogan Gidley.

DeBartolo was suspended from the NFL in 1997 and fined $1 million over an extortion case involving then-Louisiana Gov. Edwin W. Edwards. As the star witness, DeBartolo testified that he paid Edwards $400,000 in exchange for his help in securing a riverboat casino license. Edwards was convicted of on racketeering, conspiracy and extortion charges in 2000.

DeBartolo eventually ceded control of the 49ers to his sister, but was still inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016 for presiding over a team that earned five Super Bowl trophies during the 1980s and ‘90s."

Must be cool to be able to buy "justice", huh? Hurrah for America!
Now run along and make the corresponding thread on Hussein.

Democratic president Barack Obama pardoned 212 people and commuted the sentences of a further 1,715 people. Among them are: James Cartwright, retired United States Marine Corps four-star general, he pleaded guilty to giving false statements to federal investigators in 2016 and was awaiting sentencing.

Several former NFL players were at the White House on Tuesday - including Jim Brown, Jerry Rice, Charles Haley, and Ronnie Lott - to speak the president about DeBartolo.

They praised the decision to pardon him.

'I take my hat off to Donald Trump for what he did,' Rice said.

Looks like Blagojevich a Dem from Illinois was also set free today.

I have no problem with any of these. They served enough time. This isn't Chelsey Manning stuff

I looked at the picture, too. My first thought was Jim Brown looks rough. But as I looked closer, I looked at his size compared to those around him. The size of his hands. His shoulders. He is hurting with worn out joints but there is nothing frail on that man. I wouldn't tangle with him.

Nah. Dude is older than you.....could you still play in the NFL at 90?
Never could. He may be 14 years older than me, but if he lost that cane...…………………...

Seriously, he was an absolute beast in his heyday. When I was from about 8 until about 16, he was the man.

I may be wrong, but I think a pardon removes all legal effects of the conviction, as if you had never been convicted at all. It's not just a get out of jail early card.
My thought as well but wasn't certain. I believe that is how it should be (if it isn't).
Thanks.

Barr under a lot of fire for interfering in the Stone case. Federal judges association calls emergency meeting, apparently out of concern over Trump's political influence in DOJ actions.

Trump commutes the sentence and remarks on his way to AF 1 that he did it because it was an unfair sentence.

Hmmmm ... the dots are starting to connect.

If you don't like it you can vote to remove him in November. Of course to do that, you'll likely have to vote for socialism. We'll see which one you'll choose

My standards are pretty low. I’ll vote for anyone who won’t run his crime family from the White House.

Back in his day, he looked like a combination of Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson, and Earl Campbell , running against a good high school team. He was bigger, faster, and stronger than the other teams' linebackers.

My standards are higher. I'm not willing to kill the entire US economy 'cause I hate the President. I care about jobs, savings, retirement plans. It's not worth going to socialism

You do realize that Trump can pardon every single person he feels like before or after they are convicted of a federal offense right? In fact he could pull a democrat move and just pardon felons in California if he wants.
